I have been breeding these sheep since 2018, foundation flock formed from Applewick and Gorse flock. I was looking for a "small" rare breed sheep for our farm in Devizes. After visiting another breeder in Wiltshire, I fell in love with the Oxford Down Sheep. The Oxford Down is now in the minority group on the RBST list. The Oxford Down is the largest UK Down breed and is far from small in physique
and character! Our first 3 pedigree ewes were a great little starter flock and relatively easy for a couple of novice first time shepherds! Our lamb boxes are sold as Taster box, Half box or Whole box of lamb and sell out every year to a few loyal customers, friends and family. We are expanding the flock gradually to keep up with demand. The lambs are fed on naturally grown grasses with plenty of variety and wild flowers. Our sheep fields are boardered by ancient hedgerow that the sheep love to nibble on. The hawthorn, hazel and blackberry provide extra vitamins and are a wildlife haven for birds and small mammals. No artificial fertiliser is used on our pastures and the sheep rotate the grazing on a regular basis making sure they always have access to fresh green grass. The Oxford Down lamb finish big at approximately 50kg so a large freezer is required if you wish to purchase a whole box of lamb!We have recently added to our farm produce with rare breed Oxford Sandy and Black pork and sausages available twice yearly and recently fresh farm eggs courtesy of our lovely ex battery rescue hens we recently rehomed.
