Nibbles and Squeaks

Nibbles and Squeaks Sanctuary primarily for rats and other small mammals. While most here will be residents for life, we do occasionally have animals available for adoption.

Animals are not always posted on the page, so please contact directly via messenger for info. I've been involved with animals pretty much all of my life, and rats since 1997. I've taken periodic breaks from having rats but last year took some on and now have several residents. I have been involved in animal welfare and rescue all of my adult life and have decided to give back as much as I can to t

he animals who have made me so happy by rescuing abandoned pets or those otherwise in need of a home. The animals live in a heated shed and have regular free range playtime with me. Many of them are residents but I may sometimes have animals available for adoption. If you have an animal who needs a home, please feel free to contact me either via this page or by emailing [email protected]. I will endeavor to answer messages and emails within 24 hours, however please be aware that I have a family of my own and a full-time job and sometimes it might take me a bit longer to get back to you.

Reuben, Revel, and Zoe are a lovely little family of guinea pigs looking for a home together. Reuben (castrated boar) and Revel (sow) are both chocolate roans and are approximately a year and a half old. Baby Zoe, the white one, is their daughter and is 7 months old currently. They will be happy to live outdoors or indoors but will need a large enclosure either way. Reuben is quite confident and has been known to lick hands, whereas Revel and Zoe are more timid but should come around with regular handling. If you would like to offer them a home, please get in touch.

FOR ADOPTION:

Two litters of rats, born here in rescue when their mums arrived heavily pregnant.

There are 9 bucks and 8 does currently looking. They are 6/7 weeks old and will be ready to go starting from this weekend. They have been handled from birth, are friendly with humans, and love to play.

Chloe and Ginny are two lovely does who were born in late January. Chloe (the roan) is very confident and outgoing and Ginny, whilst slightly more reserved, is fairly confident too. They are looking for a home together. Please get in touch if you are interested in adopting them.

ANNOUNCEMENT:

Due to various factors, both financial and personal, I have made the decision that Nibbles and Squeaks must temporarily close.

What does this mean?

I WILL:

*Provide back-up for any animals which have ever been homed through the rescue so if you have adopted form me and can no longer keep your pets (including others they have bonded with), you MUST still contact me so that arrangements can be made.

*Be advertising animals currently here in rescue for adoption over the next few days. There are a fair number of adoptable animals here who will be advertised so that appropriate homes can be found.

*Be keeping on a number of special needs animals as permanent residents, as well as a few of my own pets. I'm not giving up animals altogether. I just need some breathing space and time to recover, with a smaller number of animals in my care for life.

*Be here to provide support and answer questions to anyone who needs help.

I will NOT:

*Be able to take in new animals for the duration of the rescue's temporary closure. However, I can probably point you to other suitable rescues to try if needed.

How long will this last?

Honestly, I'm not sure. I need awhile to physically and financially recover and once I feel ready, I will be able to open the rescue's doors again.

In the meantime....watch this space for animals looking for homes. I will try to get photos and adverts of everybody available for adoption on the page within the coming week, but if you are looking to adopt a pet before I get everyone online, please feel free to message me with your enquiry.

Another litter of baby rats was born here over the weekend. Mum was too far into her pregnancy on arrival for galastop to be an option. She had 13 little beans, which I managed to get a quick photo of whilst mum came out for a treat so I could check them for milk bands, etc. Mum is only a baby herself, poor thing, but is doing an amazing job with them all.

I have received so many applications for rats over the past several days, which is absolutely amazing. I have some time off work this week and will be looking through the applications this afternoon. I will do my very best to get through them all today. Thank you for your patience. :)
