The Reality of a Norfolk Dog Walker…

Expectation: Idyllic strolls through sunny Norfolk lanes, singing while a pack of perfect pups frolics around my feet.

Reality: Squelching through mud in June, desperately trying to keep from slipping over.

It’s absolutely brilliant… until the weather turns total pants. 😂

But honestly? I wouldn’t trade it for the world.

Three years ago, I ditched the rigidness of a "normal" job. Between managing my own chronic illness, navigating life with an additional needs kid, and home-educating, I needed freedom and flexibility.

Turning to dog walking was the perfect side step.

Now, my "coworkers" never schedule useless meetings, they’re always thrilled to see me, and they excel at emotional support. 🐶

Because of home-ed, my spaces are limited, but the pack I do have is gorgeous. My clients are absolute gems, and their dogs are joy wrapped in fur.

When I'm not dodging rainclouds or being mum taxi, I'm glued to my Kindle. I am a massive reader, so much so that I have a BookTok space dedicated entirely to spicy, smutty romance novels (because we all need a fun escape, right? 😉).

Married life, our kids, a mountain of books, and a muddy, chaotic job, it’s exactly where I’m supposed to be.

The absolute BEST part of my job? Reconnecting with old friends. 🐾❤️

Today, I had the biggest smile on my face heading into a visit I haven't done in 10 months! His lovely mummy has been on maternity leave, so he hasn't needed his usual pop-ins.

Walking through that door, I wondered if he'd remember me. The explosion of tail wags, endless licks, and immediate cuddles answered that pretty quickly! 😂 It felt like I’d never been gone.

That bond is exactly why I love what I do.
