KEEPING YOUR PETS HAPPY AND SAFE THIS FIREWORK NIGHT

This can be a very distressing time for
many pets, these suggestions
should help to minimise any stress.

* Walk your dog before dark

* Keep cats indoors

* Make sure your pet is wearing a collar and tag and that their id chip details are up to date on the database, this is to ensure that if the worst case scenario occurs and your pet was to run away from home, they can be reunited with you

*Provide a safe den for your pet to hide in

*A pressure wrap Eg Thunder Shirt can help provide comfort

*Calming music such as classical music or even just talking on the TV can help mask noises

*DON’T PANIC! Our pets pick up on our mood so by staying calm you will help your pet cope.

*Close windows and curtains to muffle outside sounds/vibrations

*Engage your dog with a long lasting treat such as a filled frozen kong

* Last but by no means least please contact us if your pet is very anxious as we may be able to prescribe anti-anxiety medications short term to help. 0115 9326056

***POLITE NOTICE TO ALL BREEDERS***
We have been recently advised by the Veterinary Defence Society (our insurers) that, to help in the elimination of unscrupulous puppy farmers, we are to request the following information before vaccinating litters:

1) If you have a current & valid Council Breeders licence, please bring it with you, This certificate will be scanned onto your records along with the vaccines.

2) If you only have a maximum of 2 litters per year and do not need a council licence, then we request formal confirmation of your details EG: Passport, drivers licence etc. This is to prove where the puppies have been born.

3) We will not issue vaccinations or vaccinations cards unless the puppies are already microchipped or are being microchipped at the time of vaccine.

Many thanks for your cooperation

As it’s today we thought we would remind everyone how important our pets are in maintaining and healing our mental health.

🐾 Pets provide companionship, even if a person cannot face talking to or socialising with people on a dark day, they can take comfort in having their pet by their side. Pets will ease the loneliness and isolation felt.

🐾Having a pet in your life helps to encourage exercise, talking a walk/jog/run with your dog or riding your horse helps release endorphins which in turn lift your mood.

🐾There is no love like the unconditional, non judgemental love of an animal ❤️

🐾 Scientific studies have proven that the sensory feedback of stroking, cuddling or petting your animal helps to reduce stress and anxiety and lower your heart rate.

🐾Being a caregiver to your pet means you need to maintain a routine of feeding and care to provide for their needs which in turn creates a feeling of greater self worth.

🐾Last but by no means least, playing with your pet gives both owners and pets joy which keeps you feeling younger 👍🏻

Give your wonderful pets an extra cuddle today as a Thankyou for all the good they are doing for your mental health!
