🌟 Not our usual post this bank holiday but we really need to share, we have been absolutely left feeling harrassed to the point of tears on what should be a well deserved bank holiday break, for doing everything right by the dogs we care for and our matting policy 💔 🌟

On Saturday we were presented with a clients dog who was extremely matted, to the point the coat could not be saved and needed to come off to begin again. (This is something which had happened at a previous groomers too for her as told by the owner).

The matting was explained during consultation on drop off and after bathing and grooming we rang to ensure we had every permission to relieve this little one of the uncomfortable matts all over her coat. We were repeatedly told that was ‘Absolutely fine, do whatever needs to be done’. (We have video and audio footage of the entire conversations.).

These owners purchased a brush and left happy like previous occasions, then contacted over two platforms that same evening asking to rebook for 6 weeks.

We then received nothing short of 84 messages & 2 bad reviews from these owners in the space of one hour, a day later - demanding we refund them and they would take legal action for having to take her dogs fur short in a groom she wasn’t happy with even though we tried to call to discuss and also offered her to come back to review it ourselves.

We are kind caring groomers and will always stand by your dogs needs whether it’s the length you desired this time or shorter - we can always begin again.✂️

I am incredibly proud of our staff who handled the severe matting with integrity and professionalism throughout. We do this job out of love for the dogs - who don’t have a voice to tell you they are uncomfortable. We won’t tolerate abuse or harrasment in this way, we will be reporting this further as we have full evidence to support ourselves alongside these clients full details.

🚨 We’re Hiring a Dog Grooming Apprentice! 🚨
Ready to start your career working with animals? Join the friendly team at The Hound Hut — a busy, well-loved grooming salon with locations in Wirksworth and Allestree.

🐶 What we’re offering:
✔️ A hands-on apprenticeship delivered in partnership with KEITS
✔️ Full training in grooming, handling, and salon duties
✔️ Support from experienced groomers in a friendly team
✔️ Customer care and retail experience
✔️ Flexible shifts, including Saturdays (minimum 30 hours/week)
✔️ Based mainly in Wirksworth, with occasional shifts in Allestree
✔️ Immediate start available!
🐾 What we’re looking for:
You must be confident with dogs of all breeds and sizes, hard-working, reliable, and eager to learn. This is a physical role that involves lifting, standing, and getting wet – perfect for someone who isn’t afraid to get stuck in!
