Arrow Riding Centre for the Disabled

Arrow Riding Centre for the Disabled The Arrow Riding Centre is for young people and adults with special needs. We are a friendly, volunteer-run charity located in Dartford Kent.

Our team of qualified instructors work with our physiotherapists to develop tailor-made programmes for each of our riders, helping them to unlock their potential on and off the horse.

It's been a hot one today! We done 2 lessons early this morning walking around our shady woods ๐ŸŒณ and spent all day making sure the ponies were comfortable with lots of showers ๐Ÿšฟ and fresh water ๐Ÿ’ง. The big ponies are still waiting to go out for the evening, once it cools down a little more they will go out. Bring on day 2 of the heatwave ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿผ. Here is what Bertie thinks of having a shower ๐Ÿ’™

Welcome to Arrow Fudge!
Fudge has been with us since April on a working livery trial. After two months learning about what he has to do in his new, very special job, he is turning out to be a lovely pony and is already becoming a firm favourite for some of our riders! He is the perfect next size up after Wilma and is a slow and steady, very kind pony. Fudge is owned by the lovely Loicia Johnson MSc VetPhys and we are very thankful to have him as part of the team ๐Ÿ’™

Meet Tonks our new yard cat ๐Ÿˆ
She's been with us a couple of months but is now getting braver and coming for breakfast and dinner every day! You may not see her during the day for a long while but we're working on building her confidence. Isn't she pretty ๐Ÿ’™

1-7th June is volunteers week across the country and we couldn't function without our brilliant volunteers here at Arrow! Not only do they lead and side help on lessons (without which we couldn't do lessons) but they keep Arrow running, help on the yard and cheer you all on! We literally would be stuck without you. So a massive thank you to you all ๐Ÿค—

Lydia and Jane Kingsford also entered the arts and crafts competition and they deserve a post all for themselves because of how fantastic their art work is! Lydia made a brilliant collage and Jane painted an amazing picture of our lovely Champ. Well done!!

Absolute mega day at the RDA regionals today! We are so proud of each of our riders, they have worked so hard since last year for this day and each one of them smashed it ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป. All four riders that we took today have qualified for the national championships in July ๐Ÿ†.

๐Ÿฅ‡Khi who has been riding with us since August after moving from another RDA group, won the totally visually impaired dressage with Baline. Proud of you for brilliant riding Khi!

๐Ÿฅ‡๐ŸฅˆDougie rode his first ever canter test to take the win with Baline and also 2nd in countryside challenge with Rosa. A little mishap with Rosa before the start of his countryside challenge as she trotted off at speed into the distance down a hill to be nosey ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ. One day that pony might grow up ๐Ÿคฃ. Super proud of you Doug for how you handled it and carried on!

๐Ÿฅ‡Ella rode the Grade 6 walk on Rosa and won. Ella the difference in your mindset and how you took control of a stressful day, you should be so proud of yourself. It's been a pleasure to watch you grow from when you first started competing.

๐Ÿฅ‡๐Ÿฅˆlittle Lydia at only 8 years old rode her first off lead rein countryside challenge on Baline to take the win and then her first off lead rein dressage to come 2nd again on Baline. It all went a bit messy in her test but it's such difficult test for such a young rider but she persevered and carried on - more than most riders would ever do. Proud of your resilience!

And our lovely ponies, Baline and Rosa are just amazing and we adore them (as well as the other obviously!) They've worked so hard in the heat today, looked after their riders and done such a fantastic job. Complete superstars ๐ŸŒŸ

And a massive massive thank you to our volunteers Val, Deidre, Sue.B, Diane.J, Gwen, Jenna, Diane.S and Zoe, as well as Gracie for all of their help and support today. Keeping everything running smoothly, ponies ready on time and cheering our riders on. We couldn't do it without you ๐Ÿฅฐ. And the staff at home who got ponies ready yesterday and looked after the yard today.

Congratulations team Arrow ๐Ÿ’™

Baline and Rosa have been scrubbed, trimmed and tided, and tack is clean, that can only mean one thing...we are off to the regional qualifiers at the Diamond Centre tomorrow! Massive good luck to our riders who have worked extremely hard this year and hope to qualify for the national championships in July. Have the best day Lydia, Dougie, Ella and Khianna, enjoy every minute! Our amazing ponies will do their best ๐Ÿ’™

All sorted, thank you ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ˜…

๐Ÿ“ฃ Help Needed ๐Ÿ“ฃ
Do any of our followers have a horse box that we could borrow (or drive for us) please?
We are taking Baline and Rosa to the regional qualifiers on Wednesday at the Diamond Centre in Surrey and one of our boxes is a bit broken! Nat can still use her lorry but can't fit both of the horses in it safely due to the weight limit of it being a 3.5t. We will try the hire companies tomorrow but it may work out very expensive. Obviously will pay for time and diesel ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ™
