Lottie is a small mix breed rescued from a life on a chain .

Getting to know Lottie was interesting seeing what drives her and of course her dislikes .

Lottie loves movement she puts herself in high energy situations and causes arousal within her own doggie group . Which can have a negative effect so always needs managing.

Lottie shows predatory behaviours triggered by her strong instinct to stalk, chase , catch then shake . This was played out by chasing some of her doggie family and seeking wildlife .

We never want to suppress natural behaviours but it's important not to allow the full sequence to be repeated and followed through .

Chase , recall , redirect into another exercise like sniff and find using enrichment toys .

My Maltese

He has struggles .

His environment needs to support him

His behaviours can not be trained out of him

He isn't stubborn .

GENETICS.....circumstances he was found when rescued his HEALTH.... all drive his emotions that drive his behaviours .

For him he is at the extreme end of the spectrum with multiple struggles and I've adapted his environment so he experiences minimal stresses , to encourage calm , learning and quality in his every day life .

Not easy filming and interacting with a gorgous excitable 9wk old puppy but so much fun

Like most puppies everything gets explored by mouth as part of their learning new skills and experiences .

its important from the beginning a puppy learns not to guard a toy an object or even space.

It's not advisable to just take off them or act as a dominant figure to get what you want .

TOY SWITCH

This is a positive exercise using 2 or 3 toys offering a different toy for the puppy to drop the one they have and adding praise each time the puppy drops the toy for the next toy your offering . This helps with anxiety and conditions a positive response
