❤️ One Year of PawFecter School for Dogs ❤️

Today was a day that will stay in my heart forever.

We gathered at Hamsterley Forest with so many wonderful people and dogs to celebrate the 1st Anniversary of PawFecter School for Dogs. Together we wandered along the river, walked beneath the stunning trees, shared conversations, laughter and memories, and enjoyed every moment of a beautiful 3-mile walk. Apart from one very brief shower, the weather was kind to us, and it felt like the perfect way to celebrate.

We finished back at the van with cake, refreshments and plenty more smiles, but today was about so much more than a walk.

Today also marks one year of being cancer free.

As I stood surrounded by friends, clients, dogs and supporters, I was overwhelmed with gratitude. A year ago, life looked very different. Today, I celebrate life. I celebrate love. I celebrate friendship. I celebrate resilience. And most of all, I celebrate you.

PawFecter School for Dogs exists because of the incredible people who have trusted me with their dogs, supported my journey, encouraged me through difficult times and believed in what I do. The kindness and support I have been shown over the last year has been phenomenal and incredibly heartwarming.

Today reminded me that life's greatest achievements aren't always measured in qualifications, finances or business success. Sometimes they're measured in the people who stand beside us, the challenges we've overcome, the memories we've created and simply being here to enjoy another day.

So today, I ask you to take a moment.

Reflect on your achievements, no matter how small they may seem. Think about how far you've come. Celebrate your successes. Be proud of the obstacles you've overcome. Try not to focus on the negatives for a moment.

We are all blessed in some way, even when life feels challenging, and sometimes we forget to stop and appreciate that.

Thank you to every single person who joined us today, and thank you to everyone who has been part of my journey over the past year. You have helped make PawFecter School for Dogs what it is today, and for that I am truly grateful.

Here's to the next chapter. ❤️🐾

🌿🐾 Celebratory Walk at Hamsterley Forest 🐾🌿

😊 ONE DAY TO GO 😊

⭐ STILL A COUPLE OF SPACES ⭐

To mark one year since PawFecter School for Dogs opened, I’d love to invite you to join me for a special celebratory walk at Hamsterley Forest 💛

📅 Sunday 31st May
⏰ 10:00 am
📍 Meet at The Grove Car Park

✨ Still a couple of spaces, so if you’d like to come along and be part of this celebration, please make sure you book your place ✨

This walk is about coming together to celebrate progress, not perfection. A chance to enjoy being out with our dogs, share space calmly, and reflect on how far we’ve all come — in a relaxed and supportive environment.

The walk will be:
🐾 calm
🐾 supportive and welcoming
🐾 focused on enjoyment, not training pressure

We’ll be out for around 2–3 hours (depending on the group’s pace), giving everyone time to settle, enjoy, and connect. Dogs can be on or off lead depending on attendees, and we’ll be mindful of giving each other space so everyone feels comfortable.

And of course… there will be cake at the end to celebrate together 🍰🐶

I’m really looking forward to marking this milestone in a way that feels very PawFecter — simple, thoughtful, and centred around community.

Thank you, as always, for being part of the journey. I would love you to come and join me 💛🐾

🌟 **Reflecting on May** 🌟

As I look back over the month of May, I feel incredibly proud of every dog and human who has walked through the doors of The School for Dogs. 🐾❤️

This month has been especially meaningful for me, as gaining my Level 2 Reactivity Coach qualification has driven me even more to reach out and help dogs and their caregivers build calmer, happier, and more understanding relationships together. Seeing the progress, confidence, and trust grow between dogs and their humans is exactly why I do what I do.

I also can’t quite believe that on the 31st May we celebrate the School’s 1st Anniversary! 🎉 What an amazing journey it has been. Thank you to every single dog and caregiver who has trusted me to be part of your journey — I have loved watching your progress and being there to support you along the way.

I’m really looking forward to seeing everyone on our Celebration Walk this Sunday at 10am. We still have a few spaces available if you’d like to join us!
Book here 👉 https://pawfecterbooking.as.me/CelebrationWalk

This month has also brought its own challenges personally, as I’ve been struggling with a bad back. But despite the tough days, I remain committed to supporting each and every dog and human who comes through the school doors. Your journeys, your determination, and your achievements continue to inspire me every single day.

Here’s to another year of learning, growth, teamwork, and wagging tails. 🐕✨

🐾 Meet the Trainer: Claire at PawFecter 🐾

Hello and welcome — especially if you’re new here! 👋
I’m Claire, the trainer behind PawFecter Dog Training & School for Dogs, and I’m so glad you’ve found me.

I believe that training is about more than just teaching commands. It’s about building trust, connection, and confidence — for both ends of the lead. Our dogs live through our experiences with us, and sometimes life shifts in ways that change routines and expectations. That’s okay. Training isn’t about perfection — it’s about progress, patience, and partnership.

✨ A little about me:

Qualified Dog Training Instructor (IMDT)
Certified Level 1 Reactivity Coach and currently working towards Level 2
Experienced in puppy foundations, recall, loose lead walking, scentwork, tricks, rally, and hoopers
Over 3 years running PawFecter, helping hundreds of dogs and owners find joy and confidence together

My passion is supporting owners to enjoy the journey with their dogs — celebrating the small wins, adapting when life changes, and learning in a fun, supportive environment. Whether it’s your first puppy, a lively teenager, or a dog struggling with reactivity, I’m here to help.

So, if you’re new here:
🐶 Have a look around.
📅 Check out classes, socials, and 1-2-1 training.
💬 And never hesitate to reach out — you’re always welcome.

Your dog doesn’t need perfection. They just need you — and I’ll be right here to support you both. 💛

“Can old dogs still learn?”

ABSOLUTELY they can ❤️🐾

One of the biggest myths I hear is that once a dog reaches a certain age, their behaviour is “set” and they can’t change. That simply isn’t true.

Recently I’ve had several enquiries about older reactive dogs — dogs over 9 years old struggling with pulling on the lead, barking, lunging, overreacting to other dogs, or finding walks stressful instead of enjoyable.

Right now, I’m working with 3 older dogs on their reactivity journeys… and they are doing AMAZING 🌟

Not only are they learning new skills, building confidence, and making progress, but they are genuinely ENJOYING the process. Watching older dogs discover calmer choices, reconnect with their owners, and learn that the world doesn’t have to feel overwhelming is incredibly rewarding.

Age is not the barrier people think it is.
Patience, understanding, consistency, and the right support can make such a difference.

So if you’ve been sitting there thinking:
“My dog is too old now…”
“We’ve left it too late…”
“They’ve always been this way…”

Please don’t give up hope.

Dogs are lifelong learners, and with the right guidance, positive changes CAN happen at any age 🐶❤️

Why the School Exists 🐾💛

PawFecter School for Dogs was built from the heart — with one simple goal: to create a safe, supportive space where both dogs and their humans can learn without pressure, fear, or judgement.

Because the truth is, not every dog feels comfortable in busy environments.
Not every owner wants to feel overwhelmed, embarrassed, or rushed through the process. And they shouldn’t have to.

Is your dog struggling with training?
Perhaps their behaviour feels like it’s going backwards and you’re not sure how to get things back on track? Maybe walks have become stressful, confidence has dropped, or you simply feel stuck and need support.

That’s exactly why this space exists.

Here, we celebrate the small wins, the quiet progress, and the trust that grows between dog and owner every single day.

Whether it’s building confidence, working through reactivity, refreshing training, learning life skills, or simply helping dogs and people understand each other better — every journey matters, and every dog is welcomed exactly as they are.

As we approach our 1st birthday on 31st May, I couldn’t be prouder of what this school has become. A place built on patience, kindness, progress, and partnership.

Thank you to every single person and dog who has walked through our gates and trusted me to be part of your journey. You are the reason PawFecter exists. 🐶✨

☀️ Keeping Our Dogs Safe In This Blistering Heat ☀️🐾

While we may enjoy the sunshine, the heat can be incredibly dangerous for our dogs. Please remember that dogs struggle to regulate their body temperature and heatstroke can happen frighteningly fast.

A few simple changes can help keep them safe and comfortable during hot weather:

🐶 Walk early morning or late evening when temperatures are cooler
🐶 Check the pavement with the back of your hand — if it’s too hot for you, it’s too hot for paws
🐶 Always provide access to fresh, cool water
🐶 Use shaded areas and avoid over-exercising
🐶 Enrichment games at home are a great alternative to long walks
🐶 Cooling mats, frozen treats, paddling pools, and damp towels can help keep dogs comfortable
🐶 Never leave a dog in a car — even for a few minutes
🐶 Watch for signs of heatstroke including excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, vomiting, wobbling, or collapse

Remember, skipping a walk on a very hot day does NOT make you a bad owner. Protecting your dog’s health always comes first. 💛

Mental stimulation, sniff games, training sessions, frozen enrichment, and calm activities indoors can tire your dog out just as much as physical exercise.

Please take care of yourselves and your dogs in this heat. 🐾☀️
