Cats deserve the same protection as dogs.

Right now, drivers in the UK are not legally required to stop or report if they hit a cat. This petition calls for a change in the law so injured cats aren't left to suffer alone.

If you believe cats matter and deserve better, please sign and share:

It is legal in the UK to hit a cat when driving and not need to stop or report collisions, leaving them scared, alone, and in pain. Cats are important, loved, valued family members for many and we believe the law should reflect this.

🚨 Keep an eye out for this cat 🚨

We have been made aware of a heavily pregnant cat in the Baglan energy park area.

She has already been taken to the vets by a concerned member of the public who was advised she was not microchipped and to put her back where she was found.

We're concerned that she may be lost, missing from home, or in need of help before she gives birth.

If anyone recognises her or knows who she belongs to, please ask the owner to get in touch as soon as possible.

If you live nearby, please keep an eye out and let us know if you see her again, including the location and time.

We're hoping to either reunite her with her owner or make sure she gets the care and safety she needs.

Please share this post so we can reach as many local people as possible. Thank you.

‼️SHORT-TERM FOSTER HOME STILL NEED NEEDED

Nyx & Delphie💕

This brother and sister duo were trapped by one of our amazing volunteers a couple of weekends ago. Its likely that they were born outside and have had no human interaction.

Delphie is all spice, whilst Nyx is a very scared little boy.

They are estimated to be around 14 weeks old, and will be vaccinated and health checked by our vet this week.

We are looking for someone with a spare room, plenty of time, and patience, to foster these kittens to get them to a place where they are socialised and trusting of people.

All our short term fosterers must be within a 30 minute drive from our vet, Afon vets. These kittens will be needing their 2nd vaccination in 2-3 weeks aswell as neutering in due course so the ability to transport to Afon vets is imperative.

Our fostering application is linked in the comments🩵

What an incredible few days it's been for us, and it's all thanks to the amazing support of our community, supporters, adopters, and local businesses🩵

We've been busy finding new homes for our donation pots, helping us raise regular, vital funds to continue our work. A huge thank you to all the businesses who have agreed to host them and support us in this way!🙏

While dropping off a donation pot at The Long Barn Pet&Equestrian, we were also delighted to receive a generous donation of cat biscuits🐱

Our recent Quiz Night held at Afan Mountain Lodge was a fantastic success, raising over £700! Thank you to everyone who attended, donated prizes, bought raffle tickets, and helped make the evening such a fun and memorable event. Plus a very special thank you to our volunteers Jessie and Lana, who organised such a successful night (and hopefully they will continue to organise lots more to come🤞)

We're also incredibly grateful to two of our wonderful supporters (and adopters🐱) who recently took on the Deadly Dozen challenge and raised an amazing £340 for us. What an achievement – thank you so much for your dedication and support!

And the fundraising doesn't stop there! This week, two more of our fantastic supporters and adopters, Lauren and Grace (also adopters🐱) will be taking on the Swansea Half Marathon to raise money for us. 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

There's still time to help them reach their fundraising target, so if you're able to support them, please the JustGiving link below:

Please join us in wishing Lauren and Grace the very best of luck for race day – we're so grateful for everything they're doing to help us continue our work🍀🩵

Thank you to every single person who supports us, whether through fundraising, volunteering, adopting, donating, fundraising on our behalf, attending events, or simply sharing our posts.

You make EVERYTHING we do possible🩵🐈

Celebrating Volunteer Week.

From One Volunteer to Another, as Volunteer Week starts, I would like to take a moment to celebrate the amazing people who make Ty Nant Cat Sanctuary what it is, so please forgive me my indulgence as I brag up our volunteers.

Tonight, we received a highly commended recognition at the Neath Port Talbot CVS Awards.
As a fellow volunteer, I know for sure that this recognition belongs to everyone who gives their time to this place.
They’re the ones scrubbing dirty litter trays before most people have had their morning coffee.
They’re the ones doing vet runs, juggling carriers, medications, and paperwork with a smile. They're the ones answering messages at all hours, processing applications and reassuring scared cat owners who have lost their fur family.
They’re the ones fostering the scared, the sick, and the traumatised cats and kittens, giving them warmth, patience, and a safe place to stay.
They’re the ones coaxing frightened cats out from hiding, cleaning up after the messy ones, and sitting quietly with the ones who are too overwhelmed to be touched.
They’re the ones who feel the deep heartbreak when we lose a cat, but still come back the next day because another one needs them. And they’re the ones who share the joy of the first purr, the first cwtch, and the “they’ve been adopted!” message that brightens the group chat.
What makes Ty Nant special isn’t just the work we do; it’s the camaraderie. The way everyone pulls together. The way someone always steps in when a shift needs covering. The way we rally around a sick cat, a tough decision, or a volunteer who’s had a hard day. The way we laugh together, cry together, and keep going together. We are entirely volunteer led. Our sanctuary runs on kindness, teamwork, and the belief that every cat deserves a chance. Every single volunteer is part of that heartbeat.
Tonight’s commendation is for them. For us. For the community we’ve built and the lives we change, both feline and human.
Happy Volunteer Week to the people who are Ty Nant. I’m proud to volunteer alongside every one of you.
Diolch O galon.

💞Long Term Foster Home Needed for Timmy💞

Our handsome Timmy is searching for his forever foster home.

Timmy has experienced kidney issues in the past, and whilst he has fully recovered and is doing well, there is a possibility these could reoccur in the future. For this reason, we are looking for a forever foster home, allowing us to continue covering any veterinary costs related to his condition should they arise.

Timmy is also a carrier of cat flu and has had a couple of eye flare-ups while in our care. At present, however, he is not receiving any medication and is managing well.

He's also recently had 6 teeth out! Poor boy has been through it.

Estimated to be around 5 years old, Timmy is looking for a calm, loving home where he can be the only pet. He will also need a home without young children.

💬Here is what his current fosterer has to say about him:

"I wouldn't describe Timmy as a nervous cat, but he can be a little reserved around loud noises or when he's unsure of what's going on. Once he feels safe and settled, his loving personality really shines through.

Timmy adores head butts and gentle kisses on his head. One of his favourite pastimes is sitting by the window watching the world go by, and he absolutely loves being warm. Give him a heater and he'll happily spend the entire day curled up beside it.

He's also a very affectionate companion. If you're lying down, Timmy loves to climb onto your chest for a cuddle and may even reward you with a few sweet kisses. When it comes to food, he's a bit of a cheeky boy and definitely enjoys his meals once he's comfortable in his surroundings.

Like many cats, Timmy has clear boundaries and isn't afraid to let you know how he's feeling. He enjoys affection on his own terms and particularly loves head scratches and gentle rubs around his nose. Occasionally, he may give a gentle swat if he's had enough attention or is feeling overstimulated, and he'll sometimes hiss to communicate that he's uncomfortable or would prefer some space. Timmy can be picked up when he's in the mood, but he's happiest with people who respect his signals and allow him to choose when he wants interaction.

Timmy would thrive in a calm, understanding home that appreciates feline independence and can give him plenty of love and attention while respecting his boundaries. In return, he'll reward you with affection, companionship, and plenty of head butts and cuddles when he's feeling social."

If you think Timmy could be the boy for you, please consider completing a fostering application 🩵

Please note that all fosterers must live in a reasonable driving distance to our vet, Afon Vets.

Could you spare just £1 today on the 1st of the month? 💸

It doesn't sound like much, does it.

If just 60 people donate £1, we'll raise enough to neuter an unneutered male cat when he arrives in our care, helping to prevent countless unwanted kittens in the future.

Why does that matter?

Because one unneutered cat can contribute to hundreds of kittens being born over time. Many of those kittens will end up abandoned, neglected, or struggling to survive.

By helping us neuter just one cat, you're helping to prevent suffering before it starts.

That's the power of £1

🩵£1 from you.
🩵 £1 from a friend.
🩵 £1 from 60 animal lovers.

Together, that's one more cat helped and countless future kittens protected.

Every pound. Every cat. Every chance🐾
