🐾 Looking for something fun to do with your dog next weekend? 🐾

I'm sharing this fantastic event from The Galloway Gundog Association. Their Fun Scurry is taking place on Saturday 8th & Sunday 9th August at Drumlanrig Castle & Country Estate at the Galloway Country Fair, and it's open to all dogs —no experience needed!

Whether you've got a seasoned gundog or a family pet that's just up for trying something new, it's a brilliant opportunity to have a go, build your dog's confidence, and enjoy a great day out together.

If you've ever been curious about gundog activities, this is the perfect place to start. Everyone is welcome, so why not come along and give it a try? 🐶

It looks like I brought the wonderful summer home with me! ☀️🐾

So, you all know the drill....

Due to the severe heat warnings, all walks for tomorrow have been cancelled or rescheduled. The safety and wellbeing of your dogs will always come first at Ochburn.

I've been in touch with everyone regarding changes to their walks, but if you think I've missed you, please pop me a message and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.

As disappointing as it is to miss a walk, remember:

🐾 No dog has ever died from missing a walk.
🥵 Dogs do die from heatstroke.

With temperatures like these, please think twice about unnecessary journeys with your dogs too. Even short car trips can quickly become dangerous, and hot pavements, artificial grass and sand can burn sensitive paws before you realise it.

🚨 Signs of heatstroke in dogs include:
• Excessive panting
• Thick drool or excessive salivation
• Bright red gums or tongue
• Lethargy or weakness
• Vomiting or diarrhoea
• Wobbling, confusion or disorientation
• Collapse or seizures

If you notice any of these signs, move your dog somewhere cool immediately, offer small amounts of water and contact your vet as an emergency.

For tomorrow, let's swap the adventures for:
🌳 Relaxing in the shade
💦 Plenty of fresh water
🧊 Frozen treats
🏠 Keeping cool indoors
❤️ Extra cuddles

🌴🐾 OUT OF OFFICE 🐾🌴

Ochburn Dog Walking is taking a little break!

We'll be swapping leads for loungers and muddy paws for sandy paws from 12th June to 22nd June while we enjoy some family time and recharge our batteries. ☀️🍹

During this time, we won't be available for walks, visits, or messages, but we'll get back to everyone as soon as possible when we return on 22nd June.

Thank you so much for your continued support, understanding, and for trusting us with your wonderful dogs. 🖤

We can't wait to see all those wagging tails again when we're back!

With some warmer weather expected next week, your dogs’ safety and wellbeing remain our top priority. Walks may be adjusted to cooler times of the day, shortened where needed, and we’ll be taking extra water and hydration breaks to keep everyone safe and comfortable. 💧🌿

We were delighted to welcome our new Ambassadog Jin to the Hospice to meet our CEO, Tracy 🐶

We were also joined by Vets for Pets Ayr , alongside some of our staff and volunteers, who lined up to congratulate Jin on her victory🏅

After posing for a few photos, Jin visited our In-Patient Unit, bringing smiles to the faces of our patients and their loved ones 💜

Jin will lead the pack as we set off on the Waggy Tail Walk at Eglington Park on Sunday 9th August 🐾

As we head into the warmer months, ticks become much more active 🐶🌿

Please make sure your dogs are up to date with their flea & tick protection before walks and adventures outdoors. If you have any questions or concerns about the best protection for your dog, speak with your vet for advice on the most suitable options available. 🐾🐶

Ticks vary in size depending on their age and whether or not they have had a blood meal recently.

Nymph ticks can be as small as poppy seeds and can easily be missed. An engorged tick can be pea-sized or bigger.

There are many species of tick but some examples can be found in the picture above.

🐾 Time for a Paws! 🐾

Just a quick heads-up to all our lovely four-legged friends and their humans: the Ochburn team is taking a little "paws" for some rest and relaxation! ☀️🇫🇷

🗓️ Our Holiday Dates:

Off Duty: Friday, May 1st – Thursday, May 7th

Back in Action: Friday, May 8th

We will be stepping away from our phones to enjoy some family time and sunshine. If you send us a message during this time, don’t worry, we haven’t forgotten you! We’ll be picking up all inquiries and responding to everyone when we return on the 8th.

🐣🎉 Harley’s Easter Giveaway Delivery Day! 🎉🐣

A huge congratulations to our winner Millie! 🤩

Harley’s Easter Bag has officially been delivered… and let’s just say there was NO time wasted! Millie and her partner-in-crime, Kuro, had their noses straight in the bag before I could even blink. 😂🐾

Now the real question is… will Millie share with her sister? 🤔 Or is Kuro just there for “quality control”? 👀

Either way, I think it’s safe to say the goodies have passed inspection with flying colours (and wagging tails!) 🐰✨

I know we said no more.... but room for a little one surly? 🙈😅

Everyone, meet our newest recruit — Ellie 💕 a beautiful collie puppy who has completely stolen our hearts! We couldn’t resist that face 🐾

Ellie has settled in wonderfully and is already enjoying making new furry friends with the pack 🐕✨

We are now absolutely at capacity for the time being and won’t be taking on any more new dogs just now (Promise). As soon as space becomes available, we’ll be sure to let everyone know.
