🚨 Heatstroke in Dogs – Know the Signs, Save a Life 🚨
Summer adventures are wonderful for our furry friends, but heatstroke can develop quickly and be life-threatening. As a dog walker, I take every precaution to keep pups safe, and I want you to know the signs, too.
🐾 Warning Signs of Heatstroke:
•Excessive panting or difficulty breathing
•Drooling more than usual
•Weakness, wobbliness, or collapse
•Bright red or pale gums
•Vomiting or diarrhea
•Confusion or unresponsiveness
🐶 If You Suspect Heatstroke:
•Move your dog to a cool, shaded area immediately
•Offer small amounts of cool (not ice-cold) water
•Cool them down with damp towels on their neck, belly, and paws – avoid soaking them in ice water as it can cause shock
•Call your vet right away – heatstroke is a medical emergency
🌡 Prevention Tips:
•Avoid walks during the hottest part of the day
•Always carry water
•Stick to shaded routes
Know your dog’s limits – brachycephalic breeds (like pugs & bulldogs) overheat more easily
Let’s keep tails wagging safely this summer! 🐕💧
