✨ Built on experience, shaped by dogs.✨

Seven years ago today, I held my breath, shut my eyes, and pressed “publish”. VIPets Cumbria was born. Being a Veterinary Nurse was all I’d ever known, but the choice was made: I wanted dogs to be excited to see me. It was the best decision I ever made — backing myself, taking the risk, and chasing a dream.

Turns out, backing yourself once makes it easier to do it again. With the support of the community built during that time, I’m moving forward with confidence into my next venture and I’m so excited to share it with you all. That chapter has come to an end, but the drive and determination haven’t.

In December, our little Frankie collapsed and his heart started to fail. He had congestive heart failure which came on very suddenly. He was so weak he couldn’t walk and was unable to lift his head to even have a drink. When speaking to the Vet, it was uncertain he would pull through.

We never thought he’d be walking the fells again, but the little fella absolutely astounded us at the weekend and trekked 9 miles, bagging three summits! Of course, we had our bags ready to carry him and kept checking he was ok, but the wriggly, determined little guy wanted to walk!

He’s on medication to support his heart now so we look forward to making more memories as a family. We’re incredibly grateful to our Vet and our family’s support through what was a very tough few weeks.
