If every walk begins with “What if?”, this is for you.

Living with a reactive dog can affect much more than your daily walks. You may change routes, avoid busy places, turn down invitations or constantly scan the environment for the next trigger. It can be exhausting, isolating and difficult to explain to people who have never experienced it.

Please remember that your dog is not broken, and you are not failing. Reactivity is communication. With greater understanding, a realistic plan and support tailored to you both, progress is possible.

Progress may be a calmer pass-by, a voluntary check-in or recovering slightly faster after a difficult moment. These wins matter.

You do not have to figure this out alone. Message Paws at Work Dog Training to take the first step.

Introducing Paws At Work Training Adventure Days
Does your dog need more than just another walk?

Our new Training Adventure Days offer a safe, structured and positive experience where your dog can learn, explore and enjoy the freedom to simply be a dog—with purpose.

Over a focused few hours, we use training, nose work, structured play and carefully guided activities to provide a healthy outlet for your dog’s natural instincts. At the same time, we work on the foundations that support everyday life: clear boundaries, structure, confidence, connection and fulfilment.

Every dog is safely looked after and professionally guided throughout the experience. The aim is not simply to tire your dog out; it is to help build a dog who feels more confident, happy and fulfilled—and an owner who feels more connected and supported.

Training Adventure Days can help develop:

• Strong foundations and clearer boundaries
• Confidence in new situations
• Positive outlets for natural instincts
• Focus through purposeful activity
• A stronger dog-and-owner connection
• A happier, more fulfilled dog

This experience is new to our programmes and already attracting interest.

If you are ready to create a positive change in your dog’s life—and yours—call or message 07823 770192 to find out more.

Your dog doesn’t need you to be their best friend every second.
They need you to be the calm, consistent leader they can trust.

Loving a dog means loving what makes them a dog—not expecting them to think, cope, or communicate like a human.

Dogs are pack animals. They are wired to move, explore, play, learn boundaries, and follow steady guidance. When that guidance is missing, many dogs don’t feel “free”—they feel uncertain. And uncertainty can show up as pulling, barking, reactivity, anxiety, or behaviour that feels impossible to manage.

🐾True love is not giving your dog everything they want. It is giving them what they genuinely need.

A calm leader. Clear direction. Meaningful walks. Structured play. The confidence of knowing that someone dependable is in charge.

If you are ready to stop simply managing the behaviour and create real, lasting change for both you and your dog, get in touch with us. We will support you with practical guidance, compassionate training, and a plan that helps your dog become calmer, happier, and easier to live with.

Message us today—your dog is waiting for the leader they can trust.

Loving your dog is the easiest thing in the world. A warm bed, a full bowl, and they love you back unconditionally. That’s friendship — and friendship is free.

But fulfilling your dog? That requires an investment.

Giving your heart is the easy part. Guiding their spirit, their instinct, and their mind — that’s where the real work begins. It demands patience, calm energy, steady confidence, and creativity. It means showing up as their leader, even on the days you’re exhausted.

Take an honest look at your routine: How much of your day is pure affection, and how much is structured exercise and discipline?

To truly thrive, dogs need a simple but powerful formula: Exercise. Discipline. Affection. Body, mind, heart. In that exact order. Affection comes last — the ultimate reward for the calm, balanced state you want to encourage.

Most dogs we meet aren’t starving for love. They’re starving for leadership and structure.

Your dog doesn’t need more love from you today. They need you to do the harder, deeper part of loving them.

The good news? You don’t have to figure it out alone. At Paws at Work Dog Training, we partner with you to build that perfect balance — supporting you every step of the way, transforming the hard work into a rewarding bond that lasts a lifetime. Let’s do the hard part together.

Play is more than a way to burn energy — it is a powerful way to build connection, confidence, and engagement.

When we make play interactive, purposeful, and rewarding, dogs learn that working with us is worth showing up for. A moving tug, a quick chase, and the chance to win can transform a simple game into valuable training.

Keep it upbeat, let your dog succeed, and finish while they are still asking for more. The goal is not a perfect performance; it is a dog who genuinely enjoys engaging with you.

If your dog is not interested in toys yet, do not write them off. With the right approach, play can become one of the most useful tools in your training kit.

At Paws at Work Dog Training, we help you build practical skills, stronger engagement, and a partnership that works in real life.

Watch your feet on the walk.

Your dog pulls toward the fence, and you take one step in that direction. It seems like a small thing. But it carries a big meaning.

Your dog just made a decision, and you followed it.

Try this instead on your next walk:

When they pull, stop your feet. Bring them back beside you, and wait. Don’t talk. Don’t negotiate. Just wait until their attention comes back to you.

Then, you pick the direction. You move first.

If you still want to go check out the fence? Go. But go because you decided to.

Every walk is a hundred small votes on who is leading the way. You don’t win those votes by pulling harder. You win them by being the one who moves first.

Ready to build a calmer, more confident partnership with your dog? We’re here to support you every step of the way.

Welcome the newest member of the Paws at Work Dog Training family: Thunder! ⚡🐾

This handsome boy—with those striking, intelligent blue eyes—is an incredible dog with absolutely boundless potential. But he came to us carrying the weight of a world he didn’t quite understand.

Thunder’s Story
Thunder spent his early days on a sprawling Texas ranch, enjoying the freedom of open fields and off-lead exploration. Life was simple, and he was allowed to just be a dog. But a major relocation to Germany changed his entire world. Suddenly faced with strict leash laws, bustling public spaces, and a constant stream of fast-moving bicycles, his environment became completely overwhelming.

The sensory overload took its toll. Thunder became highly reactive to bikes, and occasionally to dogs and noisy children. He developed skittish, nervous, and tense behaviours, living in a constant state of high alert. Simply put: that is no way for a dog to live.

The First Step
His dedicated owner, Jen, knew he deserved better and reached out for help. Today was our first session. My priority was to build mutual trust, but also to observe his authentic reactions away from his mum so we could accurately assess the root of the issues—which included severe bike reactivity, this is one of the main things!

Yes, the reactions were intense at first. But beneath that anxiety is a dog who is willing to listen and desperate for guidance. By the end of our session, we successfully walked past a bike with zero reaction. That doesn’t mean the work is magically done, but it is a massive breakthrough. It means Thunder is beginning to understand what is being asked of him, what boundaries mean, and how to find calmness through leadership.

The Mindset Shift
If you want your dog to live a truly fulfilled, balanced, and stress-free life, it requires a fundamental shift in mindset. It demands commitment, patience, calmness, and consistency.

Remember: affection is a powerful tool, but offering it at the wrong moment only reinforces the wrong state of mind. Leadership and structure must come first; affection comes last. Jen is fully committed to doing whatever it takes to help her boy succeed, and we have a clear, structured plan to build a solid foundation this week before they head back to Germany.

Change is Possible.
If you are struggling with your dog’s behaviour, please know that you don’t have to accept a life of stress and anxiety for either of you. Change is absolutely possible—you just have to want it, and be willing to put in the work to unlock your dog’s true potential.

I truly love what I do, and helping dogs like Thunder find peace is exactly why Paws at Work exists. I’ll be sharing regular updates on his journey, so follow along to see his progress!

See you tomorrow, mate! 🐶

From Stress to Success: The Power of the Pack 🐾

This special girl has carved out a permanent place in my heart. Mavis has come such a long way, and today was a milestone we will never forget.

We had previously introduced Mavis to my boy, Maverick. But today was the ultimate test: integrating her with both Maverick and my German Shepherd, Murphy. Murphy is a big, balanced boy who knows exactly how to communicate boundaries—he’ll correct an attitude if needed, while Maverick brings the playful, calming energy.

Mavis handled the introduction brilliantly. While she initially tried to take charge, Murphy stepped in to help her release that tense, reactive energy, and Maverick guided her back into a calm state of mind. Once the pack dynamic was established, the transformation was beautiful. They spent the rest of the session running, playing, and simply enjoying being dogs.

But the proudest moment of the day? Our pack walk. I handed all three leads over to Mavis’s mum, Donna. It is incredible how walking with a balanced pack can instantly elevate a handler’s confidence. Donna did a phenomenal job taking charge, and Mavis absolutely loved it. My boys communicated to Mavis that she was safe, secure, and had nothing to worry about.

Mavis is living proof that if you put in the work and remain consistent with your training, your dog will stop dreading the world and start truly loving life. You can replace that stressful, over-aroused energy with calm confidence.

Are you struggling with your dog’s behaviour?
Do you dream of a more relaxed, enjoyable walk where you feel entirely in control? You don’t have to navigate this journey alone.

Let your dog be a dog.

Dogs in third-world countries are often skinny, but they rarely have psychological problems. They are social. They are balanced. They understand freedom and boundaries.

Meanwhile, dogs in modern cities are often chunky and need a television show to fix them.

Why? Because we remove their instinct and replace it with a human story. We treat them like projects or babies, instead of the incredible animals they are.

It’s time to stop overcomplicating it. Let them connect to their natural way of doing things. Give them the freedom to explore, the fulfilment of being a dog, and the boundaries they need to feel secure.

At Paws at Work, we’re here to help you find that balance. Let’s build a partnership where your dog can thrive naturally.
