Salt and grit used to melt ice and snow can cut paws and irritate mouths and digestive systems if licked.

Ensure you wash or wipe your dog’s legs, feet and stomach when you come indoors after a walk. Check for minor cuts.

Paw wax can help protect paws.

September is Animal Pain Awareness Month and it's up to us, as pet guardians, to notice the common signs of chronic pain.

Your dog may be showing the following which could indicate a deeper problem:
Struggles with jumping up on sofa, bed or climbing stairs
Difficulty standing from resting position
A limp or unusual movement during walks
Sits with legs to the side
Struggles on hard floors or slippery floors at home
Decreased appetite
Facial expression

Take some time today to check your beloved companion for any signs of discomfort.

**Discuss any findings with your vet**

Our friends Canine Arthritis Management have lots of helpful advice and information which is useful for dogs with CM/SM (Syringomyelia) as well.
