Veterinary Nurse Awareness Month 🐾👩🏼‍⚕️

Join us in celebrating and talking about the vital role(s) that Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVNs), Student Veterinary Nurses (SVN) and Animal Nursing Assistant (ANAs) play in caring for your pets!🐾

In any given day a veterinary nurse may find themselves taking x-rays, medicating patients, doing nurse consults, maintaining equipment, monitoring anaesthetics, dressing wounds, taking care of patients and the list goes on…

Our team work super hard looking after all your furry friends, day and night!🏩

We would like to say THANK YOU to our amazing team of Veterinary Nurses: Emma, Lauryn, Megan, Issy & Liza 🩺💚

Please note that we will be closed from 12pm-2pm today for a practice meeting. Phones will be diverted to our North Walsham team.

🚨📣New Pet Travel Rules from 22nd April 2026🚨📣

There has been a change in travel rules for dogs, cats and ferrets entering the EU.

From 22nd April 2026 EU pet passports held by GB residents will no longer be valid for travel into the EU. This includes pet passports issued in EU countries and Northern Ireland even if they were issued before this date.
EU pet passports are now only valid if the owner's main residence is within the EU.

If you are a GB resident travelling with your pet to the EU, you will now need to obtain an Animal Health Certificate (AHC) before each trip.

We advise all pet owners to check the entry requirements with the relevant authority in the destination country prior to travelling.

The changes apply to non-commercial movements of dogs, cats and ferrets

🐾🍫 Easter Treats or Pet Dangers? 🍫🐾

With Easter around the corner, it’s important to remember that some of our favourite holiday goodies can be toxic to dogs and cats🚫🐶🐱 Here’s a list of common Easter foods that can harm your furry friends:

🍫 Chocolate: Contains theobromine, which is highly toxic to both dogs and cats. Even small amounts can cause vomiting, diarrhoea, seizures, and even heart issues.
🍬 Sweets with Xylitol: This artificial sweetener, found in sugar-free sweets and gum, can cause a dangerous drop in blood sugar and lead to liver failure in dogs.
🍇 Grapes & Raisins: Even small quantities can cause kidney failure in dogs. Beware of hot cross buns – they often contain raisins!
🌰 Nuts (especially macadamia nuts): Can cause weakness, tremors, and vomiting in dogs.
🧅 Onions, Garlic, and Chives: Found in some Easter dishes, these can cause anaemia and gastrointestinal upset in both dogs and cats.
🥚 Cooked Bones (from roasts): Can splinter and cause internal damage or blockages when ingested.
🌿 Lily Plants (cats only): Extremely toxic, even small amounts can lead to kidney failure. Avoid using them in floral arrangements.

✨ 🐾 Tips for a Pet-Safe Easter:
✅ Keep treats out of reach: Store Easter eggs, sweets, and hot cross buns in closed cupboards.
✅ Know the signs of toxicity: Vomiting, diarrhoea, lethargy, tremors, or unusual behaviour.
✅ Seek help immediately: If you suspect your pet has eaten something toxic, contact your vet right away.
