When Diana first arrived home, introductions to resident cat Ziggy (also a PAW Society kitty) got off to a slightly shaky start - a nose rub was swiftly followed by a hiss and a retreat! Thankfully, three months later, things look very different. 😻

Her family told us:
"Ziggy and Diana have got to know each other and often play and sleep together.
Diana is very vocal - she wasn't at Kiko's - and Ziggy now talks to us some more. Diana has also copied Ziggy by enjoying tummy rubs. She wasn't so keen when she first came to us but loves it now."

Diana has also had her first taste of outdoor adventures, and it seems Ziggy decided to take responsibility for showing his new friend around:
"It was lovely watching all her senses going ten to the dozen as she explored the garden. Then Ziggy called and Diana followed him over the side gate! About an hour and a half later, the two of them came back together. He's clearly watching out for her."

From tentative introductions to playing, sleeping, and adventuring side-by-side, we'd say those "baby steps" paid off beautifully. 💕

Three months have flown by since Mango headed off to her forever home, and it sounds like she couldn't be happier. 💕

Mango settled in quickly from the very beginning, immediately seeking out cuddles and forming a lovely friendship with the family's dog. Over the following weeks, her confidence grew, her cheeky side appeared (much to the disappointment of a few houseplants!) and she began building a relationship with the resident cat too.

Now, three months on, her family told us:
"Mango is doing great! Still full of love, very playful and definitely settled in now.

We let her outside for the first time recently, which she has been enjoying immensely. She comes back in without needing to be called, which is a real relief."

From crying at the door for cuddles in her first few days to confidently exploring the outside world, Mango has certainly made herself at home. We're so happy this affectionate little girl found the family she deserves. 🐱

🐾 Chester: Affectionate, nurturing, and playful.

Chester is an affectionate boy who loves food, toys, cuddles, and curling up on a welcoming lap. He's particularly fond of children and has a lovely nurturing side with other cats, so we'd like him to have a compatible feline friend and young human friend in his new home. An indoor home with plenty of enrichment would suit him beautifully, and he may also be able to live with a cat-savvy dog.

Meet our biggest ever intake!

When one of our Trustees was tagged in a desperate appeal from Cats Galore who were overwhelmed by the number of stray cats and kittens needing help in their local area, we knew we needed to help.

So we've opened our doors to two cats and 16 kittens - 18 new arrivals across multiple litters all safely trapped and brough to safety by Cats Galore 😻

For some, life so far has been spent outside, surviving wherever they could. For others, their time on the streets has left them frightened, under-socialised, or in poor condition.

Now they're all safe. They'll have time to decompress, receive any veterinary care they need, and gradually learn that life doesn't have to be about simply surviving. We'll take things at their pace and give each of them the opportunity to show us who they really are.

It's a huge intake for our small charity, but when another rescue reaches out because they're struggling, this is what rescue partnership is all about.
One organisation creates space.
Another steps forward.
And together, we save more lives. 🤍

We'll be introducing these beautiful cats and kittens in small groups as they settle in. Many are currently nameless and we'll need some help brainstorming - keep an eye on our page for details! 👀

🐾 Welcome to PAW Society, Clara 🐾

Beautiful Clara has recently joined us after being found wandering as a stray in Hailsham and handed into St Anne's Veterinary Group by a member of the public.

With no microchip to help trace where she came from, Clara arrived in a heart breaking condition – extremely skinny and dehydrated. 💔

At around 8 years old, Clara has already had more than her fair share of hardship. Veterinary checks have also revealed that she has hyperthyroidism, so she is now safely in our care and receiving medication to manage her condition.

For now, Clara is enjoying the security of knowing that she is safe, her tummy is full and the people caring for her are looking after her.

We don't know how long she had been struggling on the streets or what happened to bring her there, but we do know that her future is going to be very different. 🤗

🐾 Sam: Chilled, affectionate, and easy-going.

Sam is a gorgeous, incredibly chilled-out boy who loves belly rubs, gentle attention and curling up close to his people. He's becoming more playful every day and could suit a home with older, respectful children, other cats or potentially a calm, easy-going dog. His long fur will need regular grooming, and an indoor home with plenty of enrichment would be ideal for this laid-back and affectionate boy.

🐾 One month on... look at Benny now! 🤍

A month ago, we weren't sure Benny would survive.

He arrived in our care after a suspected road traffic accident with a fractured pelvis, severe bruising, anaemia, and a long list of complications. He was unable to eat, drink, walk, or even go to the toilet properly on his own. There were moments when we truly didn't know if he would make it. 💔

Today, we're so happy to share a much brighter update.

✨ Benny is eating and drinking by himself.
✨ His feeding tube has been removed.
✨ He's walking independently again.

He's still a little wobbly on his feet, and that's something he's likely to live with permanently, but seeing him happily making his way around is something we once only hoped for.

The best news is that there have been no further complications from his injuries. Benny has, however, been diagnosed with a heart condition, meaning he'll need medication for the rest of his life. Thankfully, he's taking everything in his stride and continues to show us just how resilient he is. 🥰

None of this would have been possible without the incredible support we've received. Every donation, every share, and every message of encouragement has helped give Benny the chance he deserved.

While we're celebrating how far he's come, we're not quite at the finish line. Benny's veterinary care has now exceeded £6,000, and as a small rescue, that's an enormous cost for us to absorb.

🐾 Welcome, Sissy! 🐾

At 8 months old, Sissy has recently come into our care and is now settling into a loving private foster home while we get to know her. 🤗

Sissy's previous owner made the difficult decision to surrender her because she was desperate to explore the outdoors. As a young, energetic cat, she was constantly trying to get into the garden, but living in a busy household with doors regularly opening made it increasingly difficult to keep her safely indoors with the family's other cats.

Despite the change in circumstances, Sissy has all the qualities we love to see in a young cat. She's affectionate, confident, and incredibly loving.

For now, Sissy is enjoying the comforts of foster care, where she'll have time to settle, be fully assessed, and let her wonderful personality shine. ✨

We can't wait to share more about this gorgeous girl over the coming weeks. Welcome to the PAW Society family, Sissy. 🩷🐾
