Well folks, that a wrap for us at Foxholes Farm. Today marks the end of 5 happy years of business at this lovely spot in Crick.😢 (Read to the end. Good news coming…🥰)
We are are no longer at this site. Any business set up here in the future is not linked with ourselves or Mairi Chapman or Luke Chapman.
Transparency:
A planning application was applied for by the new land owner. Unfortunately the application was not detailed enough to make highways or WNC planning dept. happy enough to grant approval.
Sadly, we were not involved or consulted in the planning application and so our experience and knowledge of the business we have run there, was not included or considered.
Documents have been publicised on the WNC planning portal and detail Highways response. Which, we respect and have not argued with.
We have been forced to close our doors abruptly with no offer given for a re-entry date, even after post-approval of the planning application. We are saddened by this. But legally we are not the land owners. So as tenants, we are in a weak position.
We fully appreciate that everyone is struggling in some way or another financially at present. Houses aren’t selling fast, the cost of living is high, investments are turbulent and cash in your pocket has never been more valuable.
So the loss of this business for us as a couple with 3 kids that live their lives running their own businesses, to provide for their future, with no other dependant income, is a really big loss.
As business owners we know the harsh truth of the hard work involved to make an idea succeed enough for you to give your whole self to it, to invest your own money in setting it up and promote it to get others to believe in it too! Thats the really difficult bit. So for that to be taken away so quickly is just devastating.
The set up of a new field will cost us in excess of £15k. So this is no quick fix without risk to making a new location work.
Now for the GOOD NEWS!!
Anyone who knows us will know that sitting about waiting for something to happen doesn’t really fall into our vocabulary.
Thankfully, we’ve secured a lovely new field not far from Crick to move to. (See picture)
We are really excited and will keep you all updated on the progress.
Here’s to a new chapter and cracking on doing what we love.
We hope you’ll follow us on the journey.
