A note to all prospective clients / new riders:
Visits to our centre are by prior appointment only.
To enquire about riding with us, in the 1st instance call 07746 113625.
You can leave a voicemail on this number & we'll call you back when we're next free..

Please don't call down at the school in person, unannounced, to enquire about riding, as there won't be a member of staff free to just chat - if we're not teaching we're doing yard duties!
This is also for everyone's safety : )

Important Easter Break Notice for Regular Riders:

We have an important request for the Easter break.

Due to clients holidays, some groups have only a few riders. Sometimes there are only one or two. We must fill empty spots from our waitlist. We might also combine, reschedule, groups. These changes take a lot of time.

To help us, please tell us if you will miss any lessons. It helps us to know in advance (as far in advance as is possible).

It’s important to please note that sadly, some riders never tell us they will be on holiday. This is part of the terms and conditions of a regular slot. If people repeatedly do not adhere to the booking policy the slot will be reallocated.

Note: Other schools charge a "holding fee" to save lesson spots.

If you will miss your Easter lessons (or lessons in any Holiday), please do let us know (that takes you less than a minute, though can help save us literally hours!) We appreciate ‘every’ client’s help in this matter.

A huge thanks to those riders who’ve already told us their Holiday plans : )

TODAY: Temporary Road Closure.
Holmshaw Lane, from Haslington Hall end, is closed for roadworks (see orange highlight!)
All roads off of the B5077 are open as normal.

Busy morning schooling.
First was the Newbie Rodders, followed by a supplying session for Maggie. Lastly was day getting Ryan acclimatised to a rider, it only his first week under saddle and is taking it well.

Lead Rein Groups

We will be running extra sessions for lead rein/beginner/novice over the Easter holidays including groups.

These are ideal for those with no or little experience of riding and are looking to progress to join an off the lead group. They are also suitable for those who wish to have a one off / taster session.

Booking and payment required in advance to secure your slot.
Currently we only have capacity for riders 10 stone max.

Cut and colour for Bruno this morning!

People ask me why do we clip our horses and ponies?

Bruno is native to this country and consequently changes his coat to survive the British weather outside through the winter.
So we clip the hair off so he is more comfortable when exercised and the sweat will either dry or be easily washed off. He has a winter rug wardrobe to protect him from the elements till he grows his thinner summer coat in the spring.

Could you imagine trying to exercise whilst wearing that much hair!!!!

A 5-star License represents an acknowledgement of our ‘Higher standards’ – this is the highest level of award an Authority can grant a Riding Centre.

Oakhanger Riding Centre is also proud to be a ‘Highly Commended’ British Horse Society approved training Centre.

We attain the highest levels awarded for our Horse Care, Client Experience, Coaching Standards (‘all’ our instructors are BHS Qualified); for our Tack & Equipment, Grassland & Turnout, Safeguarding & Working Practices.

These awards require a huge team effort to gain & maintain, & we would like to extend our thanks to all staff for their continued dedication to the welfare of the Horses & to servicing our clients.

NOTE: We obviously cannot answer calls to the mobile 24/7,365, so the ringer will be off outside of the yards working hours, & then we’ll pick up on all messages the following working day & get back to you..

All lessons are running as normal through this cold snap.

If we ever need to cancel we will pro-actively reach out to clients, so there is no need to call in to ask if lessons are on.

We’ve had a dusting of snow so please be careful in your journeys & leave extra time where you can.
