Steven Smith has two rides in the best average finishing scores of 2024* - Campbell Mclean's Annaghmore Cornoko had the lowest average at EI100 level, and Maureen Brown's Fleur de Lis led the way at EI115.

Abbey Ferris and How Ya Sammy (owned by Mary Ferris) completed 5 events for the lowest average finishing score at EI90, of 24.24.

Nicola Ennis partnered Susan O'Shea's Dawn Arrival around three EI110s in early 2024, winning two of them, for an average finishing score of 29.23. Sarah O'Shea later took over the reins for the rest of the 2024 season.

Anna McErlean from Moria is a Level 3 Equine Apprenticeship student working at Smith Brothers Eventing in Gilford. They employ four Apprentices who are all working towards attaining their Level 3 Apprenticeship qualification.
As part of the Apprenticeship programme, Anna is gaining hands on experience in competition riding, stable management and horse care all under the guidance of Trevor Smith, Steven Smith and Yard Manager Casey Webb.

Great work by Nathan gaining his City and Guild qualification in ICT alongside studying for his BHS Stage 3 exams.

Nathan also passed his BHS Stage 2 exams in 2024 👏👏

Over the next few months our apprentices are completing qualifications in English, Maths and ICT as well as BHS Stage 2 and Stage 3 exams…. Alongside competing in the Flexi Eventing and Eventing Ireland events.

As part of their Apprenticeship Training, learners who haven't previously attained GCSE Grade C equivalent qualifications in English, Mathematics and ICT are supported to achieve Essential Skills qualifications.
Well done to Darren Irwin, Leah Sheridan and Nathan Richie, Level 3 Apprenticeship Equine students who recently attained City and Guilds qualifications in ICT.

📊 𝐒𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬 📊

Annaghmore Cornoko, ridden by Steven Smith (Smith Brothers Eventing) and owned by Campbell McClean, showed exceptional form in the dressage phase in 2024. At his 5 events, he never scored higher than a 25.0, with a PB of 21.3. This gives him the lowest average dressage in 2024* at 23.04.

The Aoife Healion-bred 2019 gelding displayed ability in the Cross Country phase as well, going double clear in all of his events to land one win, one second, two thirds and a sixth. And all in his debut season!

*of horses who competed three events or more last season.

Flexi Eventing Week 2 ☘️

Thank you to the Meadows Equestrian team and Northern Region Committee for organising another successful day

Our team took a selection of young horses and older horses to get them set up for the year ahead!

Anna, Hollie and Casey picked up some great placings in the EI100, in a big section of 40 competitors, with Smith Brothers pupil Gracie Thompson- Logan finishing an excellent 3rd place also! 💪

Flexi Eventing Week 1 ☘️

Our team took a selection of horses to start the year, with Anna McErlean and Premier Lara scoring a stunning 76% to take 2nd place in the EI100 🌟

Hannah Groves and the Kings Ransom followed in 4th with a stunning test to score 70% and several of our other horses gaining great experience with Lee, Hannah, Anna, Hollie and Bonnie! 🤩

We have some space in our yard for a new team member to join us!

If you are enthusiastic about horses and want to join one of the biggest event yards in Ireland, send us a message.

We have a team of horses from 3 year olds up to 4* horses. There is plenty of riding and training available.

The role can be tailored to suit an individuals needs, whether you would prefer to be mostly grooming or assisting with riding.

There is a wealth of experience amongst our team, from riding to horse care and management. We really try to train and educate our staff as best we can in all areas.

Staff members have competed at Junior and Young Rider European level during their time with us and have gone to have great careers in the horse industry, whether it be as riders or world class grooms.

We have accommodation onsite, indoor and outdoor arena, gallops, cross country schooling area.

Many of current staff members are completing their BHS exams through CAFRE and this is something we really encourage.

If you are interested, please send us a message with some details of your experience and we would be happy to discuss.

We are more than happy to train and educate new staff members, but a good sense of humour and a team player is a must 😃
