Me and Mark have just attended to this Fallow Doe after she was found in a ditch in Oakwood. We had a call from Derbyshire Police just before 11pm to ask if we could help.

She has been hit by a car as she has tarmac burn to her front and back legs but no obvious fractures.

She is settled in a deep straw bed and has had some injections of medication for pain and to help combat shock. She will be reassessed in the morning to see if she is able to stand.

Between the hours of 10pm and 9am we offer an emergency out of hours service for animals such as this deer who would otherwise be shot or be left where she lay. This roe buck was hit by a car near Silverburn this morning. The driver didn't stop. Many thanks to Pamela who saw the accident and stopped to help the animal and to the taxi driver who also stopped and put the deer into the boot of his car and brought him to Hessilhead. The deer has received treatment and is standing this evening, though is still concussed and very quiet. Some people are very kind and helpful.
