⚠️ GRASS SEED WARNING ⚠️
Our Poor Arlo had to have surgery today to remove a grass seed from his paw. 🌾🐾
I just wanted to share this as a reminder to everyone to check your dogs regularly, especially at this time of year.
Arlo had been constantly licking between his toes, but despite checking his paw over and over again, I couldn’t find anything. I literally had my face in his paw, checking every toe, feeling every inch, and even shaved the hair away so I could get the best possible look and I still couldn’t see a thing.
It turns out a grass seed had worked its way deep into his paw and needed surgery to remove it.
These little things are so much worse than they look. They can burrow under the skin and continue travelling, causing pain, infection and, as in Arlo’s case, surgery.
Please keep checking your dogs
🐾 Between their toes
👂 Ears
👁 Eyes
👃 Nose
Watch out for signs like:
• Constant licking or chewing
• Limping
• Swelling
• Shaking the head
• Pawing at the ears or eyes
If your dog keeps licking one area and something just doesn’t feel right, trust your instincts and get them checked,even if you can’t see anything.
Thankfully our brave boy is now home recovering, and we’re looking forward to having him back to his cheeky self soon.🥹💕
