A gentle reminder from Sooty….(and me!)

Half term is around the corner, as most of you know I am a Mum so occasionally I take a day off! 😉

If you would like an October appointment please don’t delay in booking, it’s filling up.

We are also coming into silly season 🎃 🎆 🎄 🎅 🤶

If you would like appointments for the remainder of the year, please do message your requirements and I will try my best to accommodate you.

A polite reminder..

No dog has died from not getting a walk. Be sensible this week, walk only early mornings and cool evenings (if we get any!). Heatstroke in dogs is real - I’ve seen it and it’s not pretty.

𝘽𝙀𝙒𝘼𝙍𝙀 𝙊𝙁 𝙂𝙍𝘼𝙎𝙎 𝙎𝙀𝙀𝘿𝙎! 🌾❗️

Grass seeds are a common problem I see, especially during the summer months. This week I am starting to see dogs with them in their paws!

The seeds are attached to the tops of long grass stems and have a sharp pointy tip that may attach to your pets fur and in many cases pierce through the skin.
In some cases the seeds have burrowed through the skin to other areas of the body causing serious health issues, some have even been know to travel into the chest.

Following a walk, please check your pets all over for grass seeds, the main areas to check are as follows:

▪️Ears - you may notice head shaking
▪️Armpits and groin area
▪️Paws - between their toes (You may notice a lump between your dog or cats toes, this could be a grass seed)
▪️Nose - Grass seeds have even been inhaled into the nose, causing a sudden onset of sneezing and pawing at the nose!
▪️Mouth - some grass seeds have been seen under the gum line.

If your pet may have a grass seed imbedded please call your vet immediately!

It’s also a good time of year to keep to a regular grooming schedule and keep your dog’s fur shorter so you can see.

It’s Monday… no Tuesday! Hope you all had a super Easter weekend.

Busy weekend for me and recovery from Wisdom Tooth extraction! Highly recommend if you are not registered with a dentist! Or in my case, registered with an NHS dentist who didn’t spot my problem 😭

Back in the salon today, lots of messages to reply to which I promise I’m working my way through.
