Wiggle Waggle top tip: For the first 4 or 5 months don't worry about training beyond "Sit" & "Look". All you need at that stage is engagement & the most simple command. Further obedience training can be dealt with after that point. Socialisation (this doesn't mean unlimited exposure to lots of dogs) is more important, hand feed your dog outside portions of it's meal whilst it sees Traffic, the postman, cats, workmen with noisy tools, dustbins, lawnmowers etc etc at a safe distance that they feel comfortable with, then goes to the beach, park, shops, river, woods etc All controlled & positive exposure. All MUCH more important in the context of that dogs development. Also by the time they're 6 months old, ALL dogs should be muzzle trained. In that period definitely do NOT try to teach tricks, also if anyone has taught your dog "paw" .... why?? 🐕🐕 fans

Meet Cali & Willow. They are our wonderful Foster dogs who came to us after circumstances in their previous home meant they needed to sadly move on.

The reports were as a first foster these were a lovely introduction as they were without behavioural issues. Often people associate aggression & reactivity as key behaviour issues & of course they are and these girls certainly have neither. However I quickly found hyperactivity, noise sensitivity, poor lead walking, lack of boundaries, questionable obedience, territorial issues with each other, opportunistic food stealing were amongst the issues these girls DID have.

So it's for me to address these & believe me, they're well worth it as they're incredibly giving & loving dogs. Training is well underway and improvements quickly evident. What this has shown me is that they're very many such wonderful lovely dogs looking to give & receive love and find their happy future & forever home. It's a clear indicator towards the merits of looking to rescues rather than necessarily buying a puppy (and believe me puppies are incredibly hard work not for people without sufficient time & patience).

The good news is people like me out there to help address any issues you may inherit with your rescue. I've helped countless people & their beautiful rescue dogs already. Taking on a dog from rescue shouldn't be daunting & the reputable ones do a thorough check to ensure your lifestyle & home is suitable for the dog & fosters like me will be giving valuable & telling feedback on the dogs needs & what's right. If your dog is rescue or not and has similar issues as Cali and Willow, if you need help with hyperactivity, separation anxiety, excess barking, attention seeking, pupppy training/socialisation needs, recall, reactivity, lead work etc then contact dog behaviour expert Graham now on 07825 171319 or via Wiggle Waggle with messenger to book the help you & your beloved best friend deserve. fans

Meet Bugs. Bugs is a Staffy and she's incredibly reactive. Her reactivity has been present years & increased having been attacked by other dogs more than once. She's a lovely dog with amazing character but scared and with an long ingrained method of dealing with encounters with other dogs.

Fixing reactivity in some dogs can be quick & easy. I've dealt with dogs where changing the owners energy, disposition, technique, lead control has worked. Ditto gaining the dogs trust, focus & engagement quickly had meant within a session or two the problem is solved. Then there's the Bugs of this world where doing just one or two aspects isn't enough & the issue is deep and multifaceted. We've been working with her for a long time, made significant improvements. Then came a regression & you need to know WHY this occurred & address it. We did, her owners techniques are better than ever, Bugs is back on track & even chooses to deflect from other dogs now, but it means numerous things all have to be in place to succeed.

Meet Bella. Bella is a Siberian Husky and she's incredibly excitable! Her energy is great but can be too much at times for her loving owners & also people and other dogs outside who are a bit overwhelmed by her lack of etiquette, boundaries & in your face approach.

Getting Bella to initially stop jumping up continuously was a start (not ideal with a large dog & a child in the household). Then before getting outside we had to look to control the energy & gain focus and engagement. With hyperactivity, lead control, lack of boundaries and being easily distracted you have to work almost exclusively on techniques to gain focus and engagement before we can move forward. I'm pleased to say Bella and her owner did brilliantly after some perseverance. This translated into better lead control, less distraction and a more controllable and engaged dog outside who won't overwhelm digs & people on introduction.

If your hyperactive dog has similar issues, lead walks aren't the pleasure they should be or any other problems (Reactivity, separation anxiety, excess barking, attention seeking, pupppy training/socialisation needs, recall etc) then contact dog behaviour expert Graham now on 07825 171319 or via Wiggle Waggle with messenger to book the help you & your beloved best friend deserve. fans

This is Winnie, she's a lovely German Shepherd who it has been my pleasure to work with recently over a sustained period with her dedicated owner.

When I first met Winnie it took me over 5 minutes to even get close to her, such was her reactivity to people & dogs. Her anxiety based reactivity was actually worse with other dogs and we spent our 1st session hiding under a tree with Winnie flying into a frenzy at the mere sight of any passing.

Fast forward to when we finished our final session together. Winnie can now walk past & ignore other dogs (people are easy!) and its enormously satisfying to see her owner enjoying walks. It wasn't quick or easy & some cases aren't, whilst others I can fix in a couple of sessions. With Winnie it was a mix of many things ranging from the owners energy, timing & technique to gaining Winnies trust, engagement, making her generally calmer, giving positive experiences and much more.

If your dog suffers any similar issues, anxieties, reactivity, phobias or for that matter any other behavioural or training problems, contact us now at Wiggle Waggle via messenger, phone on 07825 171319 or via the website (Wigglewaggle.org.uk) for affordable support & help for your beloved dog ranging from £20 phone consultation and starting from £40 for hour long 1 to 1 sessions based on location & issue.

Meet Trigger. He is a Jackchi (Jack Russell / Chihuahua cross), 20 months old and suffers from EXTREME anxiety. Poor Trigger didn't have the best of starts, was born in a puppy farm environment which will give any dog genetic anxiety issues & lacked socialisation.

I've just carried out a 2nd session with Trigger & his loving owner. The first session showed me exactly how his fear anxiety manifests in reactivity to not just other dogs but humans, especially males. The poor lad spent 20 minutes diving back & forth and barking full on at me despite me not engaging & giving appeasement signals. I managed to get him a bit calmer eventually & we went and looked at outdoor reactivity issues which meant Triggers owner couldn't relax or enjoy walks, as he's also reactive to traffic. The session ended with me giving his owner lots of advice, tips & techniques.

That 1st session was last year, I recently held a follow-up. After a few initial barks Trigger quickly calmed. I noticed my advice & techniques had been utilised wonderfully by his owner and his behaviour, anxiety & body language was MUCH improved. We had an outdoor session and managed little reactivity to dogs and traffic. Back at the house Trigger was even bouncing up to greet me playfully in a way his owners said they had never seen with any male outside their household. All in all an excellent & very satisfying session which demonstrated a happier dog & owner who both could begin to enjoy life.

Meet Luna. She is a Pomsky (yes Husky / Pomeranian cross) and one of the most adorable & beautiful dogs it's been my pleasure to train.

Despite how gorgeous Luna is, she's a strong little thing & a massive puller on the lead. This meant walks for Lunas' owner hasn't been particularly relaxing or enjoyable, particularly after a recent hand injury.

We recently had our 1st session which was incredibly successful & I showed Lunas' owner the techniques required to address the pulling & lead etiquette. I had Luna walking beautifully by my side within 10 minutes & her owner picking up the techniques, including lead work & engagement quickly and remarking on the quick & significant improvement.
