** Notice for customers who have cats booked in from September - January 26 **

Bridge Closure update,

This is from NCC Highways.

The bridge at Chare Bank B6309 Ebchester will be subject to a FULL road closure commencing Monday 22nd September for 8 weeks.

The reason for the full closure at the beginning is to try and reduce the overall closure time for the complete works.
The bridge will then reopen with 2 way traffic lights until around early January 2026.
There will be a further closure for around 5 days to waterproof the bridge and resurface in January.

Diversions,
There will be a diversion for heavy vehicles, etc which will incorporate Consett and the A68.

Local traffic - there will be a diversion from Shotley Bridge but not via Newlands due to the bridge there.
Full details of this diversion will be published when I receive them.

In fairness to NCC they have looked at various options to mitigate a full bridge closure. They have decided that disruption at the beginning will be best in order not to implement numerous closures throughout the works.

The above will cause disruption to people travelling to & from work, to local businesses and to local residents, so please be respectful to one another and be mindful of this impact.
Try and support our local businesses such as The Anchor and the local school at Whittonstall where you can.

If you have any concerns, etc please make a comment and I will feed it back to NCC.
