Puppy training class starting on Thursday 12th March!!! 🤩

I'm very excited to bring you this puppy training course looking at dog body language, building lifeskills, recall training, self control and more!

You'll also get support via message/email on anything puppy related for the duration of the course!

✨ Where? St. Augustine's Church Centre, Locking, BS24 8DA.

✨ When? 6 week course starting on 12th March

✨ What time? 10.30-11.30am

✨ Who for? Puppies aged 3-6 months

Ginny had a fabulous agility session on Monday with the wonderful Lucie Hinchley, putting in some real graft in prep for IMCA try outs in April.

Some lovely skills demonstrated, she's certainly making me think twice about retiring her at the end of this year 🥹

Sniffing! 🐽👃

Did you know that it's super important to let your dogs sniff on their walks?

Sniffing allows the dog to explore their environment.
Think of it as their daily newspaper! 😜📰

It's how they learn about what's going on around them.
It can also help them settle and allow that emotional sink that fills with engaging and protective emotions (hot and cold tap), to drain.

If your dog isn't a good sniffer whilst on walks, then how can you encourage this?
Scatter feeding, slower walking, walking in long grass, going to different locations etc... are all ways that can help.
And if your dog isn't sniffing because they're too aroused/worried by what is going on around them, then perhaps it's time to call in some help! 🙂

Happy one year anniversary to me!!! 🎉

Can you believe it's been a whole year since I set up Leap & Learn Dog Training?! I can't! 😱
Time certainly flies when you're having fun 😜

Now, not only do I offer agility training on Thursday nights (from the fabulous Agility Base), but I also have my puppy superstars training course starting in March on Thursday mornings!! 🙌🌟

If you or anyone you know is looking for either dog agility or puppy training then please feel free to send them my way! ☺️

🌟 Post of recognition 🌟

It's time again to celebrate the successes of our students and this week there's a few to mention!

✨ Jill and Holly gained their final win at the Pawsability show last weekend taking them to the dizzy heights of grade 6! 🙌

✨ Nicola and Freddie won their agility class at the Pawsability show taking them into grade 5! 🥳

✨ Russell and Georgie achieved their first clear at a KC agility show coming 2nd in the agility class! 👏👏

✨ Shout out to new members Lynn with Archie 🐾 and Julie with Stanley 🐾 who have taken to their agility foundations like ducks to water 🦆💦 well done!! 👍

Yesterday I took a trip to the fabulous Pawsability Agility Show in Somerset where I was invited to judge the grades 4-6 jumping for the large and small dogs.

Such a fun afternoon setting the courses and watching some fabulous runs 🤩

Well done to everyone who competed, regardless as to the result and thank you to Amber and Sue from Pawsability Dog Training for inviting me to judge 🥰

Consistency in your training!

Dogs are creatures of habit. They like consistency and so it's important in your training to always remember this. What gets rewarded, gets repeated.

Ginny is a pro for hopping on any log, rock, tree stump, or bench she sees, because as a puppy I encouraged and rewarded this to build confidence (and to take photos 😂📸).

This particular stump has become a bit of a game and whenever we pass it, even from this distance, she looks at me as if to say "shall I?" 🤣

What routines do your dogs like in particular? What's unique to them? Please do share 🥰

Yesterday we went for one of my favourite walks at Middle Hope by Sand Point 😍
So peaceful and scenic 🏞️........

However, no matter how much of a peaceful walk we want and are seemingly having, it's important to never switch off whilst walking your dogs.
Maintaining connection with them, making sure they're safe or that they aren't about to do something they shouldn't 👀 are all vitally important.

I always make sure my guys don't go through gates/kissing gates etc.... without me checking it's safe first. You never know what's around the corner as you can see in the photos! 🐐

Once I saw these guys, the dogs were put on the lead immediately, especially Tika who would love to test the goats running abilities 😂
