💙🐾 We’re proud to celebrate Ellie’s inspiring journey

At nearly 17, Ellie and her dad took on an incredible challenge by walking 75 miles in just three days. Together, they have raised an amazing £3,500 for Autism Dogs Charity.

This was more than a walk. It was a deeply personal journey for Ellie, who mapped out a route that reflected her own story. From hospital stays to her current studies at the University of Liverpool Maths School, each milestone held meaning.

Ellie, who is autistic, shared her experiences of overcoming significant mental health challenges and her hopes for greater independence. Her future assistance dog, Lyra, trained by Autism Dogs Charity, will provide vital support as she works towards living independently and pursuing her university ambitions.

Her determination to help others access these life-changing dogs shows the power of empathy, resilience, and community.

👏 Thank you to Ellie and her family for their courage and generosity.

Flying can be overwhelming, especially with sensory challenges or anxiety in unfamiliar places. But Julia’s recent trip abroad felt very different because she had Storm by her side.

Storm is her autism assistance dog. She stayed calm through every part of the journey. During take-off, while the plane shook and roared, Storm was curled up on her mat. At one point, she even started dreaming.

On the way home, the flight crew invited them into the cockpit. Storm looked ready to fly the plane herself. If she had thumbs, she probably would have given it a go.

Assistance dogs like Storm don’t just perform tasks. They bring calm, comfort, and confidence — even at 30,000 feet. 💙

Today is — a day to honour autistic voices and lived experiences. 🧠💙
(Not to be confused with LGBTQ+ Pride — this day is about neurodiversity and being proudly autistic.)

At Autism Dogs Charity, we’re sharing real words from our community — honest reflections on what pride means, why it’s complicated, and where we find strength.

🌱 Where we find our pride

There’s no one way to be autistic — and no one way to feel proud.
You belong here. We’re proud of you.

Ever feel like you’re not doing enough? That’s impostor syndrome talking — not reality.
The truth is: every time you show up, every time you try again, that is progress.

You’re not falling behind — you’re growing.
You are doing better than you think, even on the hard days. And you are absolutely not alone.

Not all strength is loud. Sometimes, it’s a steady hand, a gentle presence, and a heart full of love. 💙

This Father’s Day, we honour the dads walking alongside their children, often through unseen challenges, offering comfort, courage, and consistency.

📷 In this moment: a dad taking his first solo public access trip with autism assistance dog Buck, to support his daughter. A gentle hug helped settle the tough moment, and she found her way forward. That’s the quiet magic of love, teamwork, and trust.

To every dad supporting their child’s journey, we see you, and we celebrate you.
