Happy International Vulture Awareness Day!

Did you know we are home to Two Turkey Vultures called Trigger and Nutsy.

In the wild Vultures are really important to the ecosystem, as they help clean up any dead animals and stop diseases from spreading.

60% of vulture species are under threat of extinction, with poisoning being their biggest danger.

Turkey Vultures rely on sense of smell to help them fine decaying flesh.

🦭 DID YOU KNOW?

Seals can actually sleep underwater! 💤

When resting at sea, some seals can slow their heart rate and surface for a breath without fully waking up. They can also sleep floating at the surface or tucked away somewhere safe on land.

Imagine being able to sleep, swim and remember to breathe at the same time. We struggle when the alarm goes off. 😂

Come and see them in their new enclosure with an underwater viewing tunnel, you might catch them grabbing some shut eye!

Firework or Porcupine?

Porcupine of course!
Our wonderful Penelope.
One of the hardest to see animals at the park, due to her being nocturnal and very shy.
But isn’t she just beautiful!

It’s been a week since we moved our 3 harbour seals into their new enclosure.

It was a big day, from getting the girls into their transport crates, to moving them across the park and releasing them into their new enclosure.

They are really enjoying their new home and give the seal of approval!

Why not pop to the park to see how they are settling in. You could even have them swim over your head in the underwater viewing tunnel!
