How we started......
In 2010 I was lucky enough to finally be in a position to have my own dog. I grew up with dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, fish, hamsters, gerbils...……. you get the picture!
Since leaving home I have always had cats, I could not have a home without a little furry friend to welcome me through the door. Due to work commitments I could not fulfil the needs of a dog. My situation changed and Bertie joined the family. Bertie is a chocolate and tan miniature dachshund. Small little chap with a huge personally. After five years of ‘mentioning’ to my husband that Bertie might like a friend, Bentley joined us. Bentley is a red miniature dachshund.
In 2016 ago we were offered the interesting challenge of a miniature dachshund who had been born with a cleft palate. Teddy had to be tube fed from birth, his breeder and family had a huge bond with Teddy due to the incredible amount of time and effort they put into keeping him alive. It was a tremendous compliment and privilege to be trusted with this amazing little chap.
This was when my interest in dog nutrition grew. I spoke at length with my vet and it was agreed that as Teddy was so healthy there was no need to put him through an unnecessary and complicated operation. The challenge was to keep Teddy fit and healthy. I started to look at dog food in more depth. Teddy does not tolerate sloppy food or dry dusty food, I settled with a raw diet.
