The sideways looks of judgement from other park users, the panic of turning a corner to find another dog walking towards you...

If there were a place you could pay tribute to dogs who had served to protect their country during the war, would you visit?

Today is Remembrance Day and on the blog I'm speaking to an incredible lady, Emma Ward from National Military Working Dogs Memorial charity.

When adorable RAF dog Spaniel Buster died in 2013, Emma shared tributes with her community at her pet cemetery business.

Brave Buster was an arms and explosives search dog, completed five tours of duty to Bosnia, Iraq and Afghanistan in his career and was the last Military Working Dog to leave Iraq.

He is said to have saved a thousand lives.

She was so overwhelmed by the love the public had for him she had the idea to create a memorial.

At present there isn't one in the UK for dogs.

Emma got in touch with Buster's handler Will Barrow and shared her thoughts, and he gave her project his support.

Now she's on a mission to raise £200,000 to have a permanent memorial where members of the public and service men and women can go to pay their respects.

Four hero working dogs will feature, Buster, Judy, Lucky and Theo.

She is just incredible and you can read her story and the moving accounts of what the four dogs did to protect the troops and all about the monument here:

Please share if you enjoy her story and help the appeal.

I would love to know what you think about the monument too.
