⚠️EQUINE FLU ALERT⚠️

🦠 We are aware there are 2 confirmed cases of Equine Influenza in Cumbria.

🌎 We do not know the location of the cases.

🦠The Flu virus can spread through the air at distances of up to 2km, it does not require direct contact with another horse who was flu to catch it.

👕 It can also spread via clothing & equipment and is viable for up to 3 days.

⚠️ Is your horse’s Flu Vaccination up to date?

🛑 Please check your horse’s vaccination and passport is up to date before attending any events.

🐴It’s Important that all horses are vaccinated against Flu, just like us the young, old & those with exsisting health conditions are at higher risk of catching the virus. 🦠

How can you reduce the risk of colic? 👇

🔴 Feed a diet composed of predominantly forage 🍽

🔴 Have a testing-led worming plan in place 🪱

🔴 Regular dental checks 🦷

🔴 Gradual stabling for winter ❄️

🔴 Healthy exercise regime 🐎

It's important to make any changes to diet, exercise & turnout regime gradually, over 3-4 weeks is ideal ✅

Do you know what is 'normal' for your horse?

Any change in your horse's 'normal' could be the first sign something isn't right ❎

It's also useful to know their Temperature, Pulse & Respiration Rate (TPR) as this can help you to spot problems early.

🌡 Typical Temperature is 37.5-38.5 Degrees Celsius

❤️ Typical Heart Rate is 28-44 beats per minute

🫁 Typical Respiratory Rate is 8-16 breaths per minute

We have an exciting new logo to mark 25 years 🌟

Our new logo represents the independent business that we are, our love of the animals under our care and our unique location.
Whilst we are celebrating 25 years, Millcroft Vets has roots of independent practice that stretch back over 100 years. Our heritage derives from six small practices, and it is 25 years since we came together as “Millcroft Vets”.

🥎New logo but same friendly veterinary team 👍

We are really excited about our new logo and want to reassure our clients that everything else within the practice remains the same. We are proudly owned by the Directors, all of whom are Members of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, and are vets working to care for your pets and farms, 24 hours a day, as part of the Millcroft Vets team.

We want to thank our loyal clients for your continued support which enables us to remain proudly independent.
