‼️ Hairy Toes ‼️

We’ve had some questions from our last post about why their ‘grinch-feet’ need removing.

Trimming the hair between your dog’s pads isn’t just about looks—it’s about health, comfort, and performance.

Keeping your dogs paws tidy helps your dog maintain better grip and traction, especially on wet grass, mud, or hard surfaces around the kennel or home. It allows them to move with confidence and stay properly connected to the ground while working.

When left overgrown, that hair traps mud, debris, moisture, and even grass seeds - causing discomfort and potentially leading to irritation, sores, cuts, or even infections.

A quick trim can make a big difference to how your dog feels and performs 🐾

One from a few weeks ago when the sun made an appearance for once 🙄

Ribblebrook Radiohead aka ‘Creep’, I’m really enjoying this youngster. She’ll be a slow burner but I love her approach to training. Takes her time and doesn’t rush into things, nose and tail are in the correct place and she never gives up 🫡

Been putting Pedro through his paces on the short grass the last couple of weeks getting ready for the selection test. Didn’t make the cut, but we’ve come away with plenty to work on after a few blips.

That’s dogs for you — and training wouldn’t be half as addictive if it all went right every time. No matter the result, we always come home with the best dog. Back to it now to iron out those issues!

Another trip up to Scotland in support of Cairngryffe and Druidsmere Gundogs at Braco. Threw Trixie & Pedro in the open test at the last minute and came away with nothing for Pedro and respectable 3rd for Trixie after having plenty of time off after the season!

Breakdown -
Trixie went nicely, very minimal whistle needed on her hunting, a few points dropped as you could see she was quite unfit! 35/40
20/20 for the blind & distraction.
8/10 on the blind - a couple of handles needed to pick this and a little sloppy delivery, without making excuses for her she has a very soft mouth and being the last dog of the day the dummies were full of saliva which she wasn’t so keen on!
10/10 on the mark 👌🏼

Pedro cast off like a bull in a china shop, I was really pleased with how he hunted and with just one point knocked on that! 39/40
10/20 for the blind and distraction 🫣 sent for the blind first after watching the distraction, Pedro went straight to it…then past it! He caught wind of the other blind placed out for the other dog and picked that instead which means a big fat 0! Then picked the distraction perfectly.
10/10 blind
10/10 mark 👌🏼

Overall really happy with them both and nice to get out and see some friendly faces!
