☀️🐶 HOT WEATHER CAN BE DEADLY FOR DOGS 🐶☀️
As temperatures rise, it’s important to remember that dogs can overheat very quickly — and heatstroke can become fatal in minutes.
Dogs don’t sweat like humans do. They cool themselves mainly by panting, which means hot weather, warm cars, pavements, and overexertion can put them in serious danger.
⚠️ Signs of overheating include:• Excessive panting• Drooling• Lethargy or weakness• Vomiting or diarrhoea• Bright red gums• Collapse or seizures
🚫 NEVER leave a dog in a parked car — even for a few minutes. Cracking windows does not keep them safe.
✅ How to protect your dog in the heat:• Walk early morning or late evening• Always provide fresh, cool water• Avoid hot pavements (if it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for paws)• Provide shade and cooling mats• Avoid intense exercise in warm temperatures• Watch flat-faced breeds, older dogs, puppies, and overweight dogs extra carefully
If you suspect heatstroke:❄️ Move them to a cool area💧 Offer small amounts of water🧊 Use cool (not ice-cold) water on paws, belly, and body📞 Contact a vet immediately
Please help spread awareness — a little caution can save a dog’s life this summer
