Good morning all 🐾
The temperature is high already this morning. Please please do be careful walking your friends. I would say to head out asap or wait until after sunset this evening when the temperature has dropped as the ground is cooled.

Pay closer attention to your dog, their age, breed and colour.
Please don’t shave your double coated dogs, don’t walk on pavements, supply fresh water NOT ICE and shade.
A dog never died from not having a walk but they can die in hot weather 🖤

LOST DOG 🐾📢

I have found this girl on Frinton Road; no lead or collar. I visited the local caravan site and door knocked but to no avail!

She is now at kinfuans Veterinary practice where she will be collected by the dog warden as unfortunately she is chipped but not registered!

Please be aware that I will always prioritise the safety and welfare of your dogs!

I will be making contact with all clients and judging walks based of the temperature at the time. Not just temperature but the “Feels like” too!

Heat exhaustion is real and we must put the health of our doggies first!

🐾 In Loving Memory of a Very Special Pup 🐾

I have refrained from posting and I felt now was appropriate to share a post in loving memory of this very special boy Griffy ✨

I’m deeply saddened to share that one of the beautiful souls I had the privilege of walking and spending time with has crossed the rainbow bridge.

Griffy wasn’t just a client — he were a little piece of sunshine in my routine. Full of character, love, and loyalty, that brought so much joy on every walk, tail wag, and wet, windy adventure. It’s been an honour to be part of Griffs final year.

To Terry, thank you for trusting me with your beloved friend. My heart is with you, and I hope you find comfort in the many happy memories you shared together.
Thankyou for being my first EVER client to join PB&CO. I will always remember Griff and he holds a very special place in my heart and here at PB&CO.

We all know I am a massive advocate for secure fields. Today I visits Grow Walkies for the first time!

Secure car park an absolute bonus which not many sites have. Accessible drinking water for doggies, a shelter. Safe and secure climbing apparatus and open running space to play ball! ⚽️

I loved this field and so did the girls! 🐾🫶

✨Grooming Post ✨

My first attempt at a Portuguese Water Dog Lions Clip groom on both my girls this week! ✂️

Portuguese water dogs were traditionally used to assist fisherman.

The hair on the head and body is left to protect vital organs when in the water. The tail is cut in the style of a scorpion 🦂 to act as a rudder helping to steer and the rear is clipped short to aid better swimming.

Before I started grooming I couldn’t accept traditional looking clips! I found them funny! Now I see it as art work along with the reasoning behind having breed standard clips coupled with the educational aspect and history behind breeds. I now see it from a different perspective.
They have been very patient and well behaved considering they’re not lovers of being groomed! 🐾🫶

I’m looking forward to growing their chest out more to create a bulker/broader look ✂️ I will also be shortening the “jacket” to bring it up slightly more behind her ribcage ✂️

All ready for a day of desensitisation tomorrow at a friendly local dog show… Question is, do we enter any classes? 🙊

✨ One year of Pearl-barley & Co ✨
May marks a whole year since Pearl-barley & Co coming to life — and what a journey it’s been! From muddy paws and wagging tails to down pours in muddy horse field and everything in between and every moment has been full of heart.

To my incredible clients — both the two-legged and four — thank you for trusting me with your beloved companions. Your continued support, kind words, and loyalty have meant the world. It’s been an honour to be part of your pet’s daily joy and care.

After months of training behind the scenes, I am so excited to be stepping into a whole new area of work — expanding my skills and services in ways I can’t wait to share. And with summer just around the corner, Pearl-barley & Co is getting a full revamp — fresh, fun, and filled with new possibilities.

Here’s to all the furry friendships made, and new ones still to meet. We’re just getting started… and there’s plenty more tail-wagging goodness to come. 🐾
