Well the time has come to say goodbye as Mason bids us farewell here at Cirencester and on to his new role as manager of a shiny new store in Gloucester.

Having been with us exactly 6 years we wish Mason all the best for the future and I'm sure we'll be in regular contact especially when we have a fish delivery considering they are just down the road.

Good luck Mason you'll be missed and thanks for all your help here with us at Cirencester!

With summer just around the corner and the weather becoming warmer, you will find that your fish are really starting to become more active, so it is a good time to make sure that you are feeding your fish regularly and giving them the right food for the season.

The Fishkeeper pond food range is designed to support your pond fish through the warmer months, with balanced nutrition to help with healthy growth, colour and overall wellbeing.

Whether you have got Koi, Goldfish or a mixed pond, switching to a suitable summer feed can help keep them in good condition and support a healthy, thriving pond.

A new proposal being discussed in the UK could significantly change the future of fishkeeping.

This proposal centres on a ‘positive list’ system, in which only a limited number of approved species would be allowed to be kept, sold, or traded. While the intention is to improve animal welfare, there are growing concerns within the industry about the potential unintended consequences.

Industry experts, including the Ornamental Aquatic Trade Association (OATA), warn that this approach could:

• Restrict fishkeeping to a very small number of species
• Exclude many commonly kept fish simply due to a lack of available data, rather than any proven risk
• Create more welfare issues, rather than solving them

At present, there is no clear evidence that a positive list system would improve animal welfare outcomes.

This is an important moment for fishkeepers, hobbyists, and businesses to have their voices heard.

If you’ve been battling algae or struggling to keep nitrate and phosphate levels under control, the new Fishkeeper Phos-Nitrate Reducer is a simple way to improve water quality and reduce algae issues.

It’s designed to help improve water quality by reducing excess nutrients that can lead to algae problems and unstable conditions in freshwater aquariums. Ideal for helping keep your tank cleaner and healthier for both fish and plants.

A few things we really like about it:

• Easy to use in most aquarium filters
• Suitable for tropical and coldwater setups
• Long-lasting filtration media
• Comes in a reusable storage jar
• Includes a free filter media bag

Works especially well in external filters and aquariums with built-in weir systems.

Now available in stores and online.
