✨ Kinesiology Taping ✨

Last week i treated this 20 year old grand prix dressage horse who was showing some tension and sensitivity through her TMJ area. She is also prone to head shaking through the summer

Using Equine K Taping UK kinesiology tape, she instantly relaxed when tape had been applied and her owner reported she was so much more comfortable post treatment ❤️

Benefits include:
⭐️ reduced tension
⭐️ improved circulation
⭐️ relaxation
⭐️ pain relief
If you think kinesiology taping could benefit your horse or dog, send me a message!🐴🐶

✨Lateral Baited (Carrot) Stretches ✨

I prescribe this exercise as a homework exercise very regularly to the majority of my clients, whether equine or canine. This is such a simple way to hep your animals feel the best they can, whether in a rehabilitation or performance animal 🐴🐶

Benefits include:
🥕Stretching the neck, shoulder and back muscle to reduce tightness
🥕Engaging the core abdominal muscles to improve strength and stability
🥕Increase spinal flexibility

These stretches should be carried out when the body is warm, such as following exercise or a physio treatment.
Carry this out approximately 3x a week, holding each stretch for 10-15 seconds

If you have any questions about this stretch or anything else, or would like to book in for a treatment, get in touch:

Canter work is super important for your horses!

𝗖𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 is a simple way to tone your horse's abdominal muscles. It's a bit like us doing sit-ups.

Other benefits of canter include:
✅ Warming up the back
✅ Improving back suppleness
✅ Conditioning the cardiovascular and musculoskeletal systems
✅ Strengthening and mobilising the thoracic sling muscles
✅ Supports good posture
✅ Improving muscular strength and power

What a great excuse to go for canter! Just remember rhythm and balance - and it's important to canter equally on both reins.

Super excited i can now offer kinesiology taping within my sessions too!🤩

This can be used to add to the effects of massage, by increasing circulation, decreasing pain, aiding in muscle relaxation or activation and support.

✨ Below you can see todays model with some tape along the back and along the glutes to help the muscles recover ✨

Many thanks to Equine K Taping UK for this weekends course and the lovely tape in use today!

Yesterday involved completing another CPD, this time in the Fascial Edge Tool!

This course entailed learning more about fascia, which covers every structure within the body. If fascia is hydrated and healthy, it is able to move freely. When problems occur and the fascia is stressed, it may become dehydrated, tight and unable to freely move. This can result in pain, restricted movement and lymphatic pooling.

This technique can be used to release any fascial tension, improve circulation and lymphatic draining, leading to improved mobility!

I’m looking forward to incorporating this tool into treating your animals!🐴🐶

Anything extra you can do it better than nothing to help!

Anything extra you can do it better than nothing to help!

Perfection is overrated 🐎

If you can’t book a massage for your horse every 3 months book one every 6 months.

If you can’t do belly lifts and pelvic tilts 4 times per week, do it 2 times per week.

If you don’t have any hills to walk your horse up and down, add a routine of backing your horse up 15 steps x 3 a few times per week.

If you don’t have a massage or heat pad, try 5 minutes of basic massage over your horses back before you put the saddle on (Ask your massage therapist to show you)!

Tips: If your horse gets greedy or snatching doing carrot 🥕 stretches, try using a lick instead!

Don’t strive for perfection, just strive for “a bit more” ❤️ Don’t strive for perfection, just strive for “consistency”
