Have you ever wondered why sometimes we talk about sedation and other times about general anaesthesia? Both help keep pets calm and pain-free during procedures, but they are not the same.

👉 Sedation is like a nap, in which your pet stays relaxed and drowsy. We may need it for X-rays or other diagnostic tests if we need your pet to stay still. Recovery is speedy, and most pets go home the same day.

👉 Anaesthesia is a total sleep state. Your pet is unconscious, a breathing tube is placed, and we constantly monitor heart rate, blood pressure and oxygen levels. It allows for safe surgery or lengthy dentistry procedures with no pain.

Whatever option we choose, round-the-clock monitoring keeps comfort and safety front and centre. Got questions about an upcoming visit or procedure? We are happy to explain!

You’ve not missed the boat, sign up extended until Sunday 31st May…

We’d love for your to join us on an epic charity walking adventure… 8 of our team (plus friends/Cirencester locals) are climbing Mount Snowdon at the end of June and we would love for you to come too (or do please support us if you don't fancy joining in)...

Ready to swap your bed for the peaks of Eryri? 🌌 On the night of Saturday, June 27th, we are embarking on a unique mission to climb Yr Wyddfa (Mount Snowdon, Wales) in the dark! We’ll be trekking 9 miles (14.5km) up the Llanberis Path (gradual climb, ideal for beginners), guided only by headtorches and moonlight (as well as trained guides of course), aiming to reach the 1,085m summit just in time for a breathtaking sunrise at 04:30 AM.

This journey is all about bringing light to others. All funds raised are split 50/50 between Guide Dogs UK, supporting those with sight loss, and Cirencester & District Round Table (Ben Gamsa is chairman this year hence the adventure), to support local community causes.

✨ Challenge yourself and make a difference!

👉 Sign up here (by Sunday 31st May): https://rawadventures.eventrac.co.uk/e/climb-snowdon-by-night-10691?rc_id=67108

Hospitalisation can be unsettling for pets, as they encounter new smells, faces, and unfamiliar sounds. Popping in a favourite blanket or toy for them to have during their stay brings a reminder of home and sense of comfort. The familiar scent tells your pet they are safe, lowering stress and helping them settle more quickly. 😺🐶

A cosy comforter also makes recovery time feel shorter. Our nursing team will tuck it beside your pet during rest breaks, giving them something soft to lean on and something reassuring to sniff.

Tiny details like this often mean calmer patients, smoother treatments and happier homecomings.

Small mammals including rabbits, guinea pigs and ferrets can sometimes sustain a foreign body injury.

This is often in the form of grass seeds, hay splinters or blades of grass trapped around their eyes, nose, ears and mouth.

If left untreated, these can cause irritation, infection and soreness.

We recommend routinely checking your pets for any signs of swelling and redness.

If you suspect that your pet has a foreign body or injury, let us take a look for you. 🐰 🐹

Lyme Disease Awareness Month is a great reminder of how important tick prevention is for our pets. 🐶

Lyme disease is a tick-borne illness that can affect dogs and that can cause serious health problems if left untreated. As the weather gets warmer and we spend more time outdoors, it’s a good time to stay extra vigilant after walks in grassy, wooded or rural areas.

Checking your pet regularly for ticks and keeping up to date with parasite prevention can make a big difference in helping to protect them.

If you ever find a tick on your pet or notice anything unusual, our team is here to help.
