Today was an exceptionally busy and varied day which started bright and early with 20 children at 8.30am joining us for a morning of pony fun.
Hacking in the afternoon saw a mixed group exploring the tracks in Cirencester Park and we even squeezed in a visit to the gallops to try to teach Mr. Over achiever aka Homer how to jump hurdles. Hilarious. 😆 Leo! found it all too much so had a sleep!
We are counting down the days to Summer camp and I make it 3 more sleeps! Eeeeeek! How exciting.

Two very different horses requiring the same simple message. It’s ok! Keep going, nothing to worry about.
Dory, such a fab boy. Returning to his jumping after a short hiatus. Piloted by Molly.
Rocky, a four year old OTTB and learning what it is all about with Scarlet.
Simple messages, simple training. In short, keep it simple! This isn’t rocket science just practice.
Well done ladies. Good riding.

Well done to Molly and Dory and Lara on Xandor at Rectory today.
Despite Dory and Mollys lack of practice over a course they had a lovely round with a couple of mistakes but had a fun outing.
Lara and Xandor had a lovely round until a slight error of course took them to another fence. A mistake we have all made once and all part of the learning curve. However they looked awesome and make a great partnership.
Remember we have a jump club in the holidays for both the younger pony riders and the older children on the horses. Have a look at our pages to see the dates or drop us a message to find out.

Scarlet had her first run on Nolan today in the 90 at Cirencester Park Cotswold cup.
Nolan has had some issues with his confidence between fences across country and today was a try out to see how his training is coming along.
He was certainly much calmer in his dressage and with a clear showjumping, left them in the lead going into the cross country.
As instructed Scarlet left the start box quietly and kept the gentle cross country pace for the first several fences. Predictably Nolan wasn’t quick enough to work out the collection of fences at the double of houses and got his knickers in a twist and had a stop.
After making a calm turn and representing him to the double he jumped it beautifully and carried on.
After a few yards it became apparent he lost his confidence and attention and slammed on the brakes followed by a rear and spin and Scarlet made a graceful but unexpected dismount.
The competition was over for the pair but a valuable lesson was learned.
So many of these big horses are rushed through the grades and as a result lose their confidence. It’s such a shame and we need to make sure they are brought on correctly and slowly and allowed to build their skills and confidence rather than being bullied around a course.
So, 2/3 of eventing going well and more xc practice needed before the next one in the Autumn.
I have to say well done to Scarlet. A very mature attitude and approach to a problem that we had anticipated and a very thoughtful bit of riding. I am exceptionally proud. Well done kid!

Happy Friyay everyone.
It’s a bit hot out here so we started early and took an early lunch and a siesta this afternoon.
All the horses are comfortable and in the shade.
On Saturday we have decided to run lessons up to and including the 2.15 session and you should have been contacted to move.
If not, please email us and we will see what slots we have left for you to join in the morning.
Have a great weekend everyone.
