This is another patient of mine, Molly.
She is a lovely 6 year old crossbreed. She had spinal surgery in 2022 after becoming paralysed in her hind legs.
She recovered well, and regained the use of her back legs. However, she continues to suffer with pain in her back, and benefits from Acupuncture alongside her prescribed medications and physiotherapy.
She is a very sweet girl and also has hypothyroidism and allergic skin disease.
The Acupuncture treatments help her pain levels, and her coat has also grown better since the treatments started, covering some areas of alopecia she had.

This is another patient of mine, Bill.

Bill is 14 years young and has a number of ongoing conditions including elbow dysplasia, lumbosacral disease, chronic hepatitis (liver disease) and suspected laryngeal paralysis (which causes episodes of noisy and laboured breathing).

He is a lovely boy and very good for his needles.

Before we started the treatments Bill was unable to go all night without urinating in the house most nights, but this has improved dramatically, and he is often able to hold on until the morning.
He also seems to be a little more stable on his feet and can stand for longer periods.

It is always rewarding to see the difference Acupuncture can make to my patients and their lives.

Today I saw little Richie. He has chronic back pain but is not currently a surgical candidate. He also has some behavioural issues with anxiety, but he was a really good boy and tolerated his treatment brilliantly!
He also got super sleepy, which is an effect we see in lots of animals, and means their body is responding to the needles 😴😌

I saw the lovely Doug for some Acupuncture last week. He is not only a perfect model but also competes in agility, making him a great candidate for Acupuncture to help ease any muscle spasms and trigger points.

Did you know Acupuncture may help to treat central sensitisation - a chronic pain state where the central nervous system has been repeatedly exposed to pain impulses and adapts by becoming almost hypersensitive, meaning there is a lower threshold before pain is felt, and even harmless sensations may be felt as pain.

This can be caused by low grade pain that is present for a long period - such as that felt with arthritis in animals.

Acupuncture can help to treat these long term pain states when used alongside conventional medications.

My 11 year old Labrador enjoying his needles today. He has arthritis in his hips and elbows, and regular treatments alongside his pain relief medication and physiotherapy keep him happy and pain free.

I am a Veterinary surgeon with over 10 years experience providing acupuncture for dogs and cats in the Cirencester Area.
I am a registered member of the RCVS and ABVA.

Acupuncture is a form of complimentary medicine that involves the placement of very fine needles at specific locations on the body to treat pain and other medical conditions.

It is often used in painful conditions such as arthritis, in animals with hip and elbow dysplasia and other chronic conditions. It can also be used in competing or working animals to alleviate muscle pain or spasm.

It should always be used alongside conventional medicine and with the consent of your own Veterinary surgeon.

Please contact me if you think your pet could benefit from Acupuncture.
