As many of you will know, in March this year I lost Billy my 15 year old Pomeranian.

Honestly, my home has felt so empty without him, and even though I live on my own, I'm not ready to get another dog of my own.

Recently, I decided to apply for my home boarding license, and yesterday I had the local animal licensing officer come to visit and inspect my home which they have approved for my home boarding licence. 🙌

This means I am now accepting enquiries for home boarding small breeds, I will only accept up to 3 small dogs at any one time from up to two households.

Both Ollie and Finn are very keen pullers on the lead 🙊

Which is a behaviour that has been practiced for a couple of years ⏰

So we've been developing loose lead walking skills for both where we can make the learning criteria easy, clear, and consistent 👌

Part of developing loose lead walking in dogs is proofing the behaviour that we're looking for in real life situations and environments 🌱

We have a set plan in place, progress is key 🗝️ not perfection, we're laying the foundations and so far so good 😊

This is George 🐾

He has been having behaviour support with us for the past few weeks 🐶

His caregiver had been struggling with his reactions towards visitors, unfamiliar people and dogs on walks, and separation related behaviours 🐶

A behaviour plan and an assessment was provided, and since the initial consultation, George's behaviour has improved ✅🙌

In today's follow-up session we worked on his responses towards visitors and people walking past the front of the house 🏡

All this couldn't have been achieved without the caregivers input and practice 🐾

All behaviour support services are available on vet referral - which is the correct and proper way to access behaviour support 🐾

As a Registered Clinical Animal Behaviourist, many pet insurance companies cover the cost of the behaviour support and so it's worth checking your policy ✅

📌 One of the exercises we were practicing was teaching the puppies to want to be in the reward zones for loose lead walking

📌 Laying the foundations and having this solid first is paving the way for setting the puppies up for success ✅

In our Friday evening puppy training course we were practicing settle and relaxation training 😌🌱☀️🐾

✅ Settle training is a fabulous skill for dogs to learn. It's teaching them key skills of emotional regulation including around distractions

✅ Examples of where it's useful are:

⭐ Travelling in the car
⭐ Visiting friends/family

Our Story

Over 18 years of animal related work experience along with currently being a provisional member of the Association of Pet Behaviour Counsellors (APBC). Since Graduating in 2011 - BSc (Hons) Animal Behaviour, I worked at a dog behaviour and training centre specialising in the behavioural consultations along with practical rehabilitation work. Since graduating from LJMU, I have completed the BIPDT course achieving 2nd Grade in August 2012. In 2015 I have also completed and passed the APBC Practical Assessment. I further my knowledge and practical skills by attending seminars on a regular basis. I don't advocate the dominant theory, which means no harsh punishments or quick fixes are used. Positive reinforcement reward based methods are used when dealing with problematic canine behaviours. Services shown below are available in the Buckshaw Village, Chorley, Leyland and the surround areas. Practical training 121s Group (up to 3 dogs) and solo dog walking Pop in visits Puppy Classes: Tuesdays at 6pm, Thursday at 7:30pm and Saturdays at 9:30am Beginner Dog Classes: Saturday at 10:30am Hoopers! Low Impact Agility: Tuesdays at 7:15pm (follow on) and Thursdays at 6:15pm (beginners)
