🚒 Chorley Fire Station – Weather Update & Safety Notice for Tomorrow

🌡️ Saturday (21 June 2025): Hot and dry during the day, followed by showers and potential thunderstorms late afternoon through the evening .

⚠️ PSPO Reminder – Open Fires Prohibited Tonight & Tomorrow

With warm, dry conditions expected tomorrow, we’re reminding everyone that the Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) remains in force across Lancashire—including Chorley. This prohibits:
• Campfires
• Disposable BBQs
• Fireworks
• Any kind of open flame in parks, moorlands, and public green areas

These restrictions help prevent wildfires during periods of heat and drought. Please follow them and report any violations to prevent emergencies.

⛈️ Thunderstorm Safety Tips

A yellow weather warning for thunderstorms is in place from 3 pm Saturday until 4 am Sunday across much of northern England . These storms may bring heavy rainfall, strong gusts, hail, lightning, and surface flooding.

What you can do to stay safe:
• Plan ahead — try to wrap up outdoor activities before mid-afternoon
• Seek shelter indoors once thunder is heard — you’re within striking distance
• Avoid open fields, hilltops, and lone trees
• If driving, slow down carefully, leave extra space, and watch for standing water
• Secure outdoor items (e.g. patio furniture, trampolines) before high winds
• Unplug sensitive electronics to guard against power surges if lightning strikes
• After the storm, check gutters and drains for blockages and stay alert to surface water hazards

🚒 If You See a Fire or Flooding Risk…

Tomorrow is set to be one of the hottest days we have had this year with the Chorley area reaching 29 degrees.
Please do not take your animals out hottest part of the day, especially between 11am-8pm. Take them out first thing or later at night.
Ensure they always have fresh cool water available, and plenty of shade if they are in the garden.
If you are concerned about your pet at any point please contact us as soon as possible.

Veterinary Nurse Appreciation Month
🐶🐇🐕🐈🐍🦜🦎

May is Veterinary Nurse Awareness Month. We wanted to take the opportunity to celebrate and appreciate our incredible nursing team here at Pinewood. ♥️

Our Veterinary Nurses work tirelessly every day to keep your fur babies happy and healthy.

What you see of our Vet Nurses when you bring your pet in to us is just the tip of the iceberg.

Did you know our Vet Nurses are anaesthetists?
If your pet is coming in for a anaesthetic it will be a Vet Nurse that is monitoring them throughout the procedure.🩺

Did you know our Vet Nurses run specialised clinics?
Vet Nurses give advice and support you when you have questions about your pet. 🐾

Did you know our Vet Nurses are radiographers?
Our Vet Nurses will set up and then take x-rays of your pet. 🩻

Did you know our Vet Nurses are laboratory technicians?
Our Vet Nurses will take blood samples and run diagnostic tests.💉🩸

Did you know our Vet Nurses monitor your patients when they come round from anaesthetic?
Vet Nurses are highly trained and skilled to be able to monitor animals post operatively. 👩🏻‍⚕️

Did you know our Vet Nurses fill in insurance forms?
Our Vet Nurses are trained how to fill these in correctly. Many of your pets are insured, and to make claims many forms have to be submitted. These have to be completed correctly and this takes a lot of time and work. 📝

These are just a few of the many jobs that Veterinary Nurses do.

Here at Pinewood we have 10 Qualified Veterinary Nurses, 2 Student Veterinary Nurses and 1 Animal Nursing Assistant. We are extremely lucky to have each and every one of them.♥️
