Did you know that you can train your own dog to assist you with a disability?

Any breed of dog can be an *Assistance Dog, and training can begin as early as 8 weeks old.

The type of Assistance dog training I offer includes:

Autism Service Dogs:
To assist individuals with autism by reducing sensory overload, and performing tasks that can aid with daily routines.

Mobility Assistance Dogs:
To provide physical support, such as pulling wheelchairs, opening doors, or retrieving objects, for individuals with mobility impairments.

Psychiatric Service Dogs:
To support individuals with mental health conditions by providing a sense of security, reducing anxiety, and performing tasks like retrieving medication or calling for help.

If you are interested in seeing if your dog has the right temperament for a working role, please get in touch!

*An Assistance dog must provide atleast one task to aid you with your disability. Emotional support dogs / therapy dogs are not allowed the same public access rights under UK Law.

8 month old Golden Retriever Gordon was getting overstimulated on his walks. Where there are big emotions, we get mouthing! His parents have been working on "leave it", "this way" (changing direction), and "heel".

To set him up for success we practised in the garden before moving out onto the street and back on ourselves, rewarding him for walking by our side with chicken. He was able to walk at a lovely pace and got the opportunity to sniff which is what walks should be all about!

Well done Gordon & family! He's making excellent progress 🎉🐾

This week at Puppy School we worked on a chin rest, changing directions when walking, switching out toys and runaway recall. All the pups passed their recall tests - well done! 🐾
