This week’s theme was all about building brave pups! 💪✨

Confidence-building games like these are so important for young dogs — they help prevent fear-based behaviours later in life, encourage curiosity, and teach pups to think for themselves when faced with something new. A confident puppy grows into a calm, resilient, and happy adult dog. 🐶🌟

🎥 Training in Action: Recall & Leave It! 🐾

Today’s pups were working on two of the most important life skills — coming when called and resisting temptation 👏

These exercises aren’t just about obedience; they build trust, focus, and safety.
When your dog can happily spin on their heels to come running back to you (even when there’s something exciting nearby!) — that’s the magic moment we’re aiming for 💫

We use positive reinforcement, clear cues, and lots of fun to make sure learning feels like a game — not a chore. Because when your pup enjoys it, they remember it!

Hi Everyone!

I'm just back from my holidays and believe I have caught up with everyone who messaged me last week!

I still have THREE spaces for Puppy School started Tuesday 26th at 6pm - if you know anyone with a pup who might like to join our fun, pressure free class please give them a tag below!

I have grooming and training availability tomorrow (Thurs 21st), Friday 29th and the 2nd September.

I'm still offering one hour dog training assessments for £45, this is ideal if you aren't ready to commit to a full training package but would like an insight into your dog's behaviour and a good starting place. 🐾

Weekend availability is VERY limited for the rest of the year. Most of my clients tend to book in their last few grooms to the end of the year and right before Christmas so if you need a specific day or time slot please get in touch ASAP!

🚀 Testosterone levels in male dogs can spike up to 7× higher than normal between 7–10 months old (sometimes earlier, sometimes later). Translation? Your sweet little angel suddenly has the attention span of a squirrel on espresso. 🐿️☕

This is Gordon. He’s 1 years old, a proud Puppy School graduate, and currently riding the hormone rollercoaster. 🎢

Yes, he knows loads of behaviours… but right now we’re keeping it simple and laser-focused on just three essentials:
🐾 Recall – come back, even when there’s something dead to sniff
🐾 Drop – hand over the contraband without a hostage negotiation
🐾 Polite greetings – because not everyone loves a 30kg hug at 100mph

Hormones or not, Gordon’s gonna smash it. 💪🐾

About Clipper & Blades...

My name is Bren - I am a self-employed dog groomer and licenced home boarder based in Choppington, Northumberland.

I am qualified in Animal Management, Canine Behaviour and Communication as well as being a qualified dog groomer. I have a custom built, fully functional dog salon in my home where I groom from on Sundays and Mondays. Grooming from home allows me to never be far from the dogs I board and I am also able to offer them grooming at a discounted rate!

Boarding is offered at £20 per day, per dog. Bedding and toys can be provided - you just need to bring the food! I have an English Bulldog called Clipper who is happy to play with energetic dogs or nap alongside older pooches. An introduction of the dogs is required before the boarding date to test compatibility. The only takes an hour and you will have a chance to ask any questions and view our facilities.
