☀️ Keeping your dogs safe will always come first. 🐾
If I’m honest, heatwaves are one of the most stressful times of the year as a dog walker.
When temperatures start climbing, my normal routine goes out of the window. Walks have to be shortened, moved to the coolest parts of the day or, where necessary, swapped for drop-in visits, so dogs can stay safe and comfortable at home.
Some people wonder why I’m so cautious once temperatures get above 24°C. The answer is simple: dogs can’t regulate their body temperature like we can, and heatstroke can happen far more quickly than many people realise. I’d much rather disappoint someone by changing a walk than risk a dog’s health.
Every decision I make is based on one thing, your dog’s welfare.
There will always be another day for a walk, but there may not be another chance if a dog suffers heatstroke.
