☀️🐶🐱 Heatwave warning for pet owners this Bank Holiday weekend 🐱🐶☀️

Temperatures are set to soar across the UK this weekend, so please keep an extra close eye on your pets.

🐾 Walk dogs early morning or later in the evening
🐾 Hot pavements burn paws — always do the 5-second test with your palm
🐾 Never leave pets in cars, even for a few minutes
🐾 Make sure fresh water and shaded areas are always available
🐾 Keep indoor cats cool with closed blinds and good airflow
🐾Don’t allow your pets to sit in direct sunlight, even indoors by the window

Flat-faced breeds, older pets, and long-haired animals may struggle most in the heat.

Watch for signs of heatstroke:
⚠️ Excessive panting
⚠️ Drooling
⚠️ Lethargy
⚠️ Vomiting or collapse

If in doubt please call us for advice!

Veterinary Nurse Awareness Month💚

In the month of May we celebrate our nursing team and raise awareness of how important they are to the veterinary team!👏🏻

In our practice we are lucky to have 6 RVN’s (registered vet nurses) and 2 PCA’s (patient care assistants).🤩

Our nurses jobs include but aren’t limited to:
- Monitoring anaesthetics📈
- Radiography🩻
- Taking bloods🩸
- Infection control🧼
- Lab work🔬
- Nurse consults (nails, a**l glands, vaccines)💉
- Administering medication💊
- Caring for hospitalised patients🥰
- Surgical assistance🔪
- Provide first aid⛑️

Meet Ralph🫶🏻😍

He is one of our sister branches patients, and visited us for a lump removal last month with Stella our lovely vet.🏥🩸

He was super brave and we’re glad to report he is healed and doing well!🥳

Sometimes the wound after a lump is removed is larger than owners expect, this is to ensure we get good margins and can close the skin efficiently.📏

Veterinary Receptionist Appreciation Week

Last but not least is Kirsten, she joined our team December 2021.

Kirsten spends a lot of her time in the office doing all the administration paperwork. She also works across our sister branches Low Fell and Washington. 📋💻

Kirsten is very proactive and takes pride in what she does. Her fav part of the job is meeting the animals and she loves the satisfaction of sorting insurances and accounts.

At home Kirsten has two pets, Aubrey and Kasha. 🐾

Thank you Kirsten for all your hard work and dedication to your job, we can honestly say we would be lost without you!🙏🏻

Caspar was in with us a few weeks ago for his castration procedure, and we are pleased he’s recovering well at home 💙

He was a very brave boy during his visit, and we’re sure he’s back to his usual mischievous self!😸
