RSPCA Felledge Animal and Equine Centre

RSPCA Felledge Animal and Equine Centre We take in animals from RSPCA Inspectors due to concerns involving cruelty, neglect, abandonment and injury. We care for cats, dogs and horses.

These animals are cared for and rehabilitated on site and then rehomed from our Centre in County Durham. The RSPCA Felledge Animal Centre is a safe haven which provides specialist treatment and rehabilitation to dogs, cats and horses who have suffered cruelty and neglect throughout the North East. We work to give unwanted and mistreated animals a second chance and find loving new homes for them. O

ur staff and volunteers not only work for the benefit of animals, but for local people too, through the promotion of free RSPCA services such as Pet Retreat and Home for Life. Our volunteer regional speakers also give a voice to the neglected animals we work with and promote responsible pet ownership to community groups. In addition to this we also organise events which aim to increase the profile of the RSPCA in the North East and also raise vital funds to continue our work against animal cruelty. If you would like further details about our future events or volunteering opportunities please contact us.

Adoption Day for Rosie! 🐾

We're so thrilled to announce that Rosie has been adopted and is off to her wonderful forever home today! ❤️

Rosie arrived in our care with a litter of Rottweiler puppies, who were all rehomed a few months ago. After receiving lots of TLC, this amazing mum has found a new start in life all for herself.

We wish Rosie all the best for the future and want to thank her new family for opening their home and hearts to her!

Greyhound lovers, don't scroll past without booping Minty's long snoot 🐽

Retired racer Minty has had a tough start, arriving at RSPCA Felledge Animal and Equine Centre from unsuitable conditions, underweight and with a severe tail injury which required amputation.

His tail amputation hasn't phased him, and he remains the most gentle, fun-loving, and affectionate boy you could ever meet.

Are you looking for a chill companion to share your home comforts with? Give Minty the life he's been dreaming of this National Greyhound Week: https://bit.ly/3HrhBzy

A huge thank you to the team at Tesco Chester-le-Street for their very kind donation of cat and dog food! 🐾

These donations are absolutely fundamental to our animals. It's thanks to the generosity of our community that we can ensure every belly is full and our residents get the nutritious meals they need to stay healthy. This also allows us to redirect our funds to other essential needs, like veterinary care and enrichment toys.

We are so grateful for every single donation we receive—they all make a huge difference to our animals' lives here at the centre. Thank you again for your wonderful support. ❤️

Happy Gotcha Day, Helga! 🎉

One year ago today, this special girl was adopted from our centre. Over the past 12 months, her new family, Harriet and Scott, have poured so much love and TLC into her, and the results are truly incredible!

Helga's coat has almost completely grown back, she no longer needs medication for her skin, and she has gained a healthy amount of weight. We are so proud of how far she has come on her recovery journey. She is now a happy, healthy girl living her best life with her two cat siblings, Oscar and Mabel! 🐾

Thank you again to Harriet and Scott for giving Helga such an amazing forever home. ❤️

Watch the video to see Helga's incredible journey from rescue to a happy, healthy girl!

🥺From 14 weeks to 2 years🥺

Artichoke and Rocket have both been in our care for 685 days due to being part of a case investigation. In 2023, they arrived along with their siblings who we named the ‘vegetable puppies’. It’s so sad they have had to spend such a large amount of life in our care😢 however they are both now looking to find their first and forever homes 🏠

They are both lovable dogs who would love a sofa to cuddle up on!🛋️ Due to not experiencing everything a puppy would of in a home environment, they can understandably struggle a little with certain sights and sounds in a new environment, however they are both our volunteers favourites and love off lead time and walks with other dogs❤️

If you think you could give them the chance in life they really deserve, please find their applications below 👇

Welcome to Felledge!

The RSPCA Felledge Animal Centre is a safe haven which provides specialist treatment and rehabilitation to dogs, cats and horses who have suffered cruelty and neglect throughout the North East. We work to give unwanted and mistreated animals a second chance and find loving new homes for them. We have been rehabilitating and rehoming cats since December 2006 and dogs since July 2010 when work on our kennels was completed. We also have a brilliant Equine Centre next door whose staff do excellent work with rescue horses and ponies. Our centre specialises in taking on animals that have come into RSPCA care through our amazing Inspectors due to cruelty, neglect and abandonment, the posts that follow will be their stories and updates from the centre.
