RSPCA Felledge Animal and Equine Centre

RSPCA Felledge Animal and Equine Centre We take in animals from RSPCA Inspectors due to concerns involving cruelty, neglect, abandonment and injury. We care for cats, dogs and horses.

These animals are cared for and rehabilitated on site and then rehomed from our Centre in County Durham. The RSPCA Felledge Animal Centre is a safe haven which provides specialist treatment and rehabilitation to dogs, cats and horses who have suffered cruelty and neglect throughout the North East. We work to give unwanted and mistreated animals a second chance and find loving new homes for them. O

ur staff and volunteers not only work for the benefit of animals, but for local people too, through the promotion of free RSPCA services such as Pet Retreat and Home for Life. Our volunteer regional speakers also give a voice to the neglected animals we work with and promote responsible pet ownership to community groups. In addition to this we also organise events which aim to increase the profile of the RSPCA in the North East and also raise vital funds to continue our work against animal cruelty. If you would like further details about our future events or volunteering opportunities please contact us.

Meet the Patchie🩷

She is a 2 year old bull breed, who unfortunately suffered from an injury to her leg from a very young age which meant she had to get it amputated😢 However, she is making an amazing recovery and isn’t letting 3 legs slow her down! she is now so happy and pain free!❤️‍🩹

When she was in lots of pain she was unsure about interacting with dogs however now she is more comfortable will walk out with calm dogs at our centre quite happily🐶🥰 she is fully muzzled trained and is a great skill to have and she wears it in dog populated areas☺️

She is a special girl with a big heart, she loves cuddles and is very affectionate.🩷

If you think you can give Patchie her forever home please find her application in the link below👇 🔗🏡

💙 We are completely blown away... 💙
We have some news that has absolutely brought a tear to our eyes (the good kind!). RSPCA Felledge has been nominated for Animal Rescue Centre of the Year (North East). 🐾

To whoever nominated us: thank you. You have no idea how much this means to the whole team, especially right now.

If we are being completely honest, it’s been a tough few months behind the scenes. While we always try to put on a brave, positive face for the animals and for all of you, we’ve been facing a few hurdles lately:

🔸We are currently battling a stubborn leak in one of our main kennel blocks. It’s requiring a lot of work to fix, which unfortunately means some of our kennels are temporarily out of action, limiting how many dogs we can take in right now.

🔸We’ve recently said goodbye to some incredible, key staff members. The amazing news is they’ve been promoted into new roles within the wider RSPCA family, we are so proud of them! But it does mean the rest of our team is currently acting like ducks on water: trying to look calm and collected on the surface, but paddling frantically underneath to keep everything moving.

This nomination couldn't have come at a better time. It is the ultimate boost to our spirits and a reminder of why we do what we do, even when the days are long and the challenges feel heavy.

🗳️ How you can help us cross the finish line!
If you’ve ever adopted from us, supported us, or just appreciate the hard work our team puts in every single day, we would be endlessly grateful if you could spare a minute to cast a vote for us.

Thank you for always standing by Felledge. Winning this would be the perfect thank-you to our hardworking team and a beautiful silver lining to a challenging year.

Let's bring it home for the North East! 🏆👇

🐾 HELP US KEEP OUR PUPS COZY! 🐾

Our doggos absolutely love to snuggle up, and we are currently running low on bedding! We are kindly asking for donations to help keep our furry guests comfortable during their stay.

✅ WHAT WE URGENTLY NEED:

Soft blankets

Towels (any size!)

🚫 WHAT WE CANNOT ACCEPT:

Duvets

Pillows

Cushions

Why no duvets or pillows? While we massively appreciate every single offer, we unfortunately do not have the commercial waste facilities required to safely and legally dispose of these thicker, stuffed items once they are past their best (or have been chewed up!).

If you are having a clear-out and have any spare blankets or towels you no longer need, our dogs would be incredibly grateful for them!

⏰ Drop-off times: We are open 11am - 3pm

Please SHARE this post to help us spread the word. Thank you so much to everyone who continues to support us and our dogs! 🐶❤️

🐾 Say hello to Patchie! We are so excited to share that she is finally ready to find her happily ever after. ✨

Patchie came into our care after a tough start to life, carrying a painful injury to her hind leg that she’d likely been living with since she was very young. Sadly, the leg was causing her ongoing pain and surgery wasn't an option, so the decision was made to amputate. She travelled to the RSPCA Greater Manchester Hospital for her surgery, and we are absolutely thrilled to say she's back and has been given a clean bill of health!

Honestly, life on three legs isn’t slowing her down one bit. She has recovered brilliantly and has the most wonderful spirit.

A little bit more about Patchie:
💖 Total sweetheart: Patchie is an incredibly affectionate girl who just loves human company and attention.

🛋️ Sofa enthusiast: She can be a bit of a lazy girl and does enjoy a good snooze, a spot on a cosy sofa would suit her perfectly!

🧸 Young at heart: Since she's only 2, she still really loves to play with her toys and have the occasional zoom (even if she's a little bit less quick now on three legs!)

🏡 Family life: Because of her friendly nature, we feel she could happily live with children of secondary school age.

🐾 Making progress: Her old leg discomfort used to make her feel a bit unsure around other dogs. Since her surgery and recovery, she's restarted her dog work and is becoming much more comfortable. She is also fully muzzle trained and happily wears it on her walks.

Patchie has been through so much, yet she has so much love left to give. She truly deserves a special home where she can finally relax and be pampered.
