Our teeny duo had a very successful day at Highfield House Stables Spring Show on Saturday. What started with two entries resulted in two first placings, two Champion placings and then Ridden Supreme Champion. One very happy little jockey and lots of very proud helpers and supporters ❤️

JOB VACANCY

Part-time Stable Assistant

We are seeking an experienced, reliable and safety conscious individual to join our small team on our livery yard in Chester le Street, County Durham.

The suitable candidate must be over 18 years of age and must have previous proven experience in horse care and stable management. You will be required to carry out general yard duties including handling horses to and from the fields, rug changes, mucking out, prepping feeds, haynets and water buckets as well as maintaining a clean and tidy yard. You must be more than capable of working independently and be able to communicate diplomatically with clients. We provide a mix of full and assisted DIY livery therefore the workload can vary depending upon individual daily requirements. There will be no riding or travelling involved.

A full Driving Licence and own vehicle is preferrable as the closest bus route is quite a distance to walk.

Hours of work will be 10 hours per week over two days on a split shift basis and will include one weekend day. The role does require a certain amount of flexibility to accomodate ad hoc requests plus the ability to provide occassional annual or unplanned leave cover.

This post is a permanent position after successfully completing a 12 week probationary period. Attractive terms and conditions.

Be aware that this is a manual position that requires a good level of strength and fitness and we work in all weathers so only apply if you are prepared to handle it.

What a fabulous and successful day we all had today at only our second in hand and ridden show at Southburn Farm Livery, with a cheeky fun dog show thrown in too.

Thank you to everybody who came and competed, Lewis Coils for judging the equine event all day, Donna Trow for judging our dog show, Emily L Photography for the amazing photos, Rob Poulton and Really Awesone Coffee for keeping everyone fed and watered and Equestrian Rose Ltd for sponsoring our Supeme Championship class. We hope to see you all again soon 😊

In Hand Champion went to Sarah Barron with Ronaldo

In Hand Reserve Champion went to Laura Matthews with Greenvale Caim.

Ridden Champion went to Martin Surtees on Caesars Palace.

Ridden Reserve Champion went to Evie Gray on Ciska.

Supreme Champion went to Martin Surtees on Caesars Palace, taking the £46.20 cash prize pot and a £20 gift voucher from our show sponsor - Equestrian Rose Ltd.

Reserve Supreme Champion went to Sarah Barron with Ronaldo, taking the £19.80 cash prize pot and a £10 gift voucher from our show sponsor - Equestrian Rose Ltd.

Our Fun Dog Show was also fabulous with an amazing £118 raised for Henry Dancer Days.

Well done to everyone who took part 👏 👍 👌 🙌 😀

Outdoor Show - Sunday 6th August - Note to all competitors

We are unable to provide indivudual class times as we are taking entries on the day.

Inhand Show start time is 9:30am.

Ridden Show start time not before 1pm.

Please collect your show number from the entries desk which will be located beside the entry to the show field.

Entries for the fun dog show are all on the day - collect your number when you enter.

Hoping you all have a great day and dare we say, hope we get through the day without any downpours 🙏

Pretty exhausting day preparing for our show this Sunday.

The dog show arena is sorted, parking plans sorted, signage sorted, PA system sorted, access and egress points sorted, rosettes and sashes sorted.

Still lots more to do tomorrow but all is looking good 👍

The weather has tried its hardest to sabotage us but we won't be beaten this time.
The fields are holding up well with only the gateways suffering so we have sourced track boards to allow safe access and egress for vehicles and have created alternative access points for horses and pedestrians to avoid the mud 😁

Only a few hours left to get any pre-entries in at a reduced price of £11 per class. Entries in the day are £15 per class.

The cash prize pot for Supreme and Reserve Champions is looking healthy already but the more entries we get, the bigger the pot will be 😃

Looking forward to seeing lots of new faces 😀

Dressage Results - Sunday 23 July 2023
Big appreciation and loud applause justified for all the hardy competitors who braved the relentless rain this morning.
Well done to you all! It was touch and go whether to go ahead but it was well worth the misery to see the absolute joy on the faces of those who took part. A lot of familiar faces from last year's series and such a pleasure to see the progress you are all making.
Hoping to see you all and some new faces next month
