You have the first few weeks of your puppy’s life to train an awesome recall before they get brave and start to investigate -
Don’t miss this opportunity…early training, positive reinforcement, ensuring freedom is earned by keeping yourself as a valuable and a safe check in for your dog are important milestones in their development.

A strong neural pathway (physical/ habitual response) linked to a properly trained whistle is the only chance you have to override natural instinctive behaviours later on, miss the boat and you can’t go back!

Where is all starts - instinct - learning - experiences - repetition - reinforcement - hardwiring.🐕‍🦺

Your puppy is laying down neural pathways for behaviour that will last a lifetime even at this age - put the work in early, shape your puppy’s natural, instinctive responses into desirable, welcome behaviour.

Be mindful - puppies communicate through scent and body language - your voice will either aid your communication or become a trigger for enticing reactive hyperactive behaviours… the line is very thin.

Nurture, guide and support - you have one chance 😉

‘Q’ - How early should you be involved with your puppy’s development….
‘A’ …ASAP!!!

This starts with a good breeder, someone who prioritises the puppy’s learning, their adaption into a domestic environment, nutritional preparation, health, socialisation and tolerance.

The critical learning period starts at 3 days and ends around 8 weeks, meaning early learning can be positively impactful or catastrophic depending on the puppy’s experiences.

Do your research, ask questions, be involved and don’t be afraid to walk away. Things can only improve if new owners educate themselves and lead with their head not their heart.

Kindness, respect, empathy, loyalty, resilience, independence… the list of life skills my animals have taught my children is endless. When life has been tough their unbreakable bond provides the stability, structure, purpose & routine necessary for them to thrive - I am forever grateful for my team ❤️

Do you have control of your dogs outdoors…?
🐾Can you recall them from wildlife, livestock, other peoples dogs and children?
🐾Do they listen to you over and above anything and everything else??
🐾YES/NO

It is very sad but most people will answer no to one of these questions & that makes your dog unsafe in public, you as an are owner legally responsible for anything they do so you are at risk!

There are so many dogs out of control, so many excuses after the event and so many incidents - dogs are the most loyal, adaptable species on the planet but most expect way too much of them - they are DOGS - they hunt, kill, chase, bully and are sensitive and responsive to the energy in their environment- it goes wrong very easily - working proactively to build trust, RESPECT, manners and control in your dog is all you should be concerned about when a puppy or dog joins your family …
I’m here to help, I can’t just sit by and watch this, so do all I can to educate those who reach out -

Happy Monday everyone- 👋be aware and mindful on your walks today 🐾🐾🐾🐾

STOP & HIGHLIGHT THE BOUNDARY! Teaching manners, personal space awareness and the meaning of the word ‘no’, allows your dog to adapt and recover when faced with social changes, puts you in a position to offer support and guidance and creates predictability for your dog so they can remain calm and clear about what is expected of them.

It’s simple, easy to implement and a powerful form of training- don’t force just communicate!

When being told to - ‘go to your bed’ - when a new guest invades your space is a godsend!

I see so many of these little guys who are defensive, easily overwhelmed and often aggressive- just giving them a simple ‘go to bed’ instruction, removes responsibility, helps them switch off and takes away any feelings of threat - everyone needs a safe zone !

Social hierarchy and proactive conversations are everything - letting the dog decide is not healthy advice!

Credit to you ❤️
