What many don’t see is that Bruce was transferred to us from veterinary grooming and wasn’t hugely comfortable when he first arrived. He was showing clear signs of unease — licking his lips and following my hand with that wary side-eye.
He particularly hated his back end being touched and would growl and snap around that area. He would also snap if you tried to remove him from his mum. However, once he tuned into my energy and realised my intentions were calm and safe, he started to relax. The truth is, I don’t do much — I simply project safety and calmness. Bruce has to do the real work of trusting me.
This doesn’t always happen straight away — it fully depends on the dog and the issues they come in with. Bruce is a proper mummy’s boy, but by the second groom we had corrected the reactivity. There wasn’t a huge amount that needed fixing overall, so I was able to remove the muzzle fairly quickly and finish with him much more settled and comfortable.

I case your wondering , people still call me Di****ad ! I have completed my good behaviour training . However I will still bark over you and il still try and mouth you (my aim to bring you in the salon by your wrist to play ball.) Mum cannot stand my barking over people (i think its great) im just so overwhelmed with emotion to see you all it will take more time as mum is struggling getting me to behave at the gate whilst she is working ...love you all di****ad Dave aka Hector
