In the early hours of this morning Prince’s owners arrived to find that he had gotten himself stuck down in his stable and was unable to get back up.
With his estimated body weight being just below 1 Tonne it was a race against time to ensure the safe return to his feet before his muscles suffered irreversible damage.
Thankfully, with the help of Corringham Fire and Rescue Team and the Kent Animal Rescue Unit our vet Lauren was able to promptly assist Prince back to his feet!
After some breakfast in bed and a lot of TLC Prince has remarkably come away almost completely unscathed and even fancied a ride in the fire engine! 🚒
We are all wishing Prince a speedy recovery and remain incredibly grateful to our fire and rescue services for their incredible work!

*New Lab Machine*

We recently installed a new PCR machine at the practice so we are now able to test for diseases such as strangles, Equine flu, salmonella, strep Zoo and Equine Herpes to name just a few!

This has become a valuable tool for when there have been concerns about flu outbreaks and also for routine strangles testing with the run time being just 85 minutes until we get a result!

We’ve been busy using our new surgical laser at the clinic on some recent Sarcoid cases!

Our new surgical laser is also very portable so we are able to perform surgery at a visit for appropriate lesions as well as under sedation or general anaesthetic at our clinic depending on the case.

Hickstead Derby 2026 🐴

Our client Liz Brown and her beautiful mare Athena finished the weekend at Hickstead by bringing home a 5th place in the ROR open finals! 🎉

How chilled is Athena at only 6 years old after finishing racing in 2024 she has now gone on to excel in the show ring 🐎

Meet Harry, the equine veterinary physiotherapist behind Stepflex Ltd. Harry has a wealth of knowledge in the rehabilitation and training of thoroughbred horses. Harry has worked closely with our veterinary team on many cases. Great work Harry and thank you.
