Did you know that June is national microchip month?🐱

Why should you microchip you pets?
- Increases chances of return and to be reunited with owners if pets become missing.
- Able to identify pets, reducing the risk of them being mistaken for another pet.
- It is a legal requirement for Cats in the UK to be microchipped.
- In an emergency it allows veterinary professionals to make contact with owners.
- Gives owners peace of mind that if a pet becomes missing, they can be identified if scanned via a microchip.
Make sure that if any changes are made to your contact information, that you make sure they are changed with your microchip database too!

If your pet needs microchipping, please contact our practice to speak to a member of our team!💚

🌱Grass blade awareness🌱

Cats can sometimes eat grass and on occasion they can become stuck. The blades can sometimes get lodged in the nose, throat or sinuses and cause discomfort. Symptoms can include excessive sneezing, coughing, retching, runny nose and eyes, difficulty eating and pawing at the face.

Last week Smokey a 1 year old Domestic Short Hair came to our clinic as his owner became concerned after he was presenting symptoms such as retching but not bringing anything up and pawing at his face. After an initial examination Smokey was admitted into practice for further investigations to try and diagnose what may be the problem🙀

Our team carried out a rhinoscopy procedure on Smokey, this is when a small tubing with a light and camera is used to examine the nasal cavity and identify any abnormalities. It was discovered that Smokey had some small grass blades lodged in his nasopharynx (back of the nose) which is what had been causing the irritation. The grass blades were removed and Smokey recovered amazingly and has since been signed off!💚

Common diseases in Older Cats - OUR CLIENT EDUCATION EVENING IS TODAY!! 🥳

Wednesday 21st May - 7:00pm - Lime Trees Cat Clinic

Are you ready for our next Client Education Evening? Our next topic is about common diseases in older cats. As our cats become older, they become more susceptible to developing conditions such as chronic kidney disease, hyperthyroidism and high blood pressure. Often the signs of these conditions can go unnoticed and the diseases can become more advanced.

At our education evening you can learn if your cat is at risk, and how to recognise early and subtle signs of this condition and what we can do to manage them in feline!💚

Reserve your space by following this link (You don't have to be a client of ours to attend!) - https://www.limetreesvets.co.uk/cat-friendly-clinic/client-education-meetings
