🍂🌰 Autumn Pet Danger: Acorns 🌰🍂

As the season changes, so do the outdoor risks for our pets. Acorns are a common sight this time of year, but they are a significant danger to curious dogs and cats.

The tannins in acorns are toxic to pets and can cause serious illness. Beyond the toxic risk, acorns are also a choking hazard and can cause intestinal damage if ingested whole.

Watch for these signs of acorn poisoning:
🌰 Vomiting
🌰 Diarrhoea
🌰 Abdominal pain
🌰 Dehydration

In severe cases, ingestion can lead to kidney and liver failure.

If you suspect your pet has ingested any acorns, please contact us immediately on 01622 734555.
Prompt veterinary care is crucial to prevent serious complications.

Say hello to Maggie, who’s been stealing hearts at our We Love Pets Bushey branch since April 2024. 🐾

Rescued from the streets of Romania, Maggie’s journey hasn’t been easy. For four whole months, Kevin and his team visited every week — patiently offering treats and gentle encouragement, only for Maggie to take a biscuit and retreat to the safety of the kitchen.

Just as Kevin was about to admit defeat, he gave it one last try… and something wonderful happened! Maggie took her first brave steps outside, and the rest is history. 🌿🐕

These days, Maggie still feels nervous, but every single walk brings a tiny step forward. She’s discovered the joy of meeting new canine friends, enjoying fresh air and gentle company along the way.

We’re so proud of Maggie’s courage, and of Kevin and the Bushey team’s dedication, patience and care. ❤️

Here’s to many more happy walks, Maggie — you’ve truly earned your spot as our August Pet of the Month! 🏅✨
