Well done πŸ˜„

This afternoon PC Marson and I have been to deal with a driver who was reported for offences whilst passing two horse riders.

The riders noticed the vehicle oncoming with no signs of it slowing down, the riders signalled to remind the driver of this however they were met with a middle finger as it continued past at speed.

Thank you to the riders who reported and supplied video footage of this offence.

Many horse riders, carriage drivers and cyclists do now wear a camera so if you decide to ignore the highway code or the law you could be leaving yourself open to prosecution.

The highway code states..

Rule 215
Horse riders and horse-drawn vehicles. Be particularly careful of horse riders and horse-drawn vehicles especially when approaching, overtaking, passing or moving away. Always pass wide and slowly. When you see a horse on a road, you should slow down to a maximum of 10 mph. Be patient, do not sound your horn or rev your engine. When safe to do so, pass wide and slow, allowing at least 2 metres of space.

Thank you

Sat 10 Oct 2020. Just want to give the heads up My friend and I were on the Pennine Bridleway today I was on my youngster we were going from back Rowarth to the Lime field when we heard some Bikes (not MTB's but Motor Cross) we thought on the Road between Butchers Piece and Back Matley Moor, didnt think anything of it but wondered where they were going as it's all footpaths and bridleways. The bike sound seemed to be getting louder so i glanced over my shoulder and to my horror saw Motor cross bikes on the Pennine bridleway behind us. (we were all between the 2 gates on the narrow part. after waving to them to stop they eventually did there were 8+ ( i think about 11 ) they didn't turn round but once we had got further ahead almost to the lime field we heard them coming again we had just passed 4 walkers and asked them if they could explain that they should not be on the bridleway ( dont think they wanted to though and I dont blame them) instead of going up the canter in the lime field we stuck to that track and rode up to the gate at the top and before we had got there we could see that the motor cross riders had entered the lime field and they then tore up the canter and went out through the small gate and over the lantern pike. no idea where they went then?

We weren't in a position to take photos or confront them, the tyre marks I took when I rode up their later on an older horse. The photo of the corner near Blackshaw I took when it happened on the earlier ride ( we were by the gate at the top when I tried to take this photo if you stretch it you can see some of the Motor Cross bikes entering the lime field and setting off). This is a really worrying development did anyone else have Motorcross bike incidents today? I'm hoping this isnt the the start of illegal and really dangerous Motor cross behaviour.
